Only one WA trip makes me extremely happy.
Just booked flights and accommodation to watch the boys take on Carlton at home in July, keen already

Probably got a lot to do with travelling as well as opponents.
Melbourne are rated one of the easiest with 13 games at Home, 2 in VIC and 7 Interstate while the Suns have 6 interstate games in the first 13. Thats a lot of travelling for a young squad. Might have something to do with late season burnout.

And then after the bye 5 Interstate and 4 at home, totalling 11 interstate 10 at home and 1 at the Gabba

So it has been rumoured that we would most likely play the other SEQ hub teams in the first four weeks.

Fremantle, West Coast, Adelaide, and Brisbane (We played Port in Round 1). Will be interesting to see which way they go with the Q-Clash. Maybe they might give it to Brisbane to help us out a little bit more in the season.

Keep in mind, we do play well against Fremantle at Metricon, we challenges the Eagles in Perth last season and won our last game against them on the Gold Coast plus we defeated Adelaide in the pre-season.

Teams will get either 8 or 9 home matches and I can see the bottom clubs getting the 9 home games trying to equalise the comp a little bit more.

I heard on the radio this morning that if we do happen to play Fremantle, West Coast or Adelaide as an 'away' match we would play them at the Gabba to avoid us getting a 'free' home game. Although the AFL was happy enough to give Fremantle a 'free' home game back in 2018 when we hosted a match in Perth. This would then only mean that we could have gotten away two potentially three away matches leaving only five trips outside SEQ for the season- finally we get to know what it is like for Richmond or Collingwood ;)

This is fantastic for us because the only travel we will now need to do is to Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane!

With a young side who start seasons well, this is our dream. We also have a healthy list with lots of young talent. Finals in 2020? Why not!

TEAMS TO BE PLAYED (FIXTURED)

Adelaide ✅
Brisbane ❌
Carlton ❌
Collingwood ❌
Essendon ❌
Fremantle ✅
Geelong ✅
Giants ❌
Hawthorn ❌
Melbourne ✅
North Melbourne ❌
Port Adelaide ✅ Round 1 (47 point loss)
Richmond ❌
St Kilda ❌
Sydney Swans ✅
West Coast ✅
Western Bulldogs ❌

So teams we still need to play are:
Brisbane (2nd)
Carlton (12th)
Collingwood (9th)
Essendon (5th)
GWS Giants (11th)
Hawthorn (8th)
North Melbourne (13th)
Richmond (10th)

Four of these matches will be at home. We may get extra home games if we play Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne, Richmond, or the Western Bulldogs during the next month too.

That was the clubs choice to maximise revenue and to reduce not having to travel there again later in the season.. they could’ve played that game anywhere but chose wa so not really afl giving them a free home game

Would love to FINALLY beat Adelaide, I think this season may be our best chance for a while.
It's the one team we still haven't beaten in our history. Also, we will snap their winning streak at Metricon if the fixture plays out the way we'd like it to.

Pros... Unsurprisingly having the hubs based minutes away from their home ground means quite a few home games to start the year... no trips to WA or SA later this year, unless it’s for a final... still have the Q-Clash at some point later in the season.

Cons... A trip to the Cattery is always difficult, but the Suns have never won there and their last two losses there have been by a combined 222 points... no excuses if they start poorly, given at least eight of their last 13 matches this season will be played away.

Yes it is great that we have all these home games but I really hope that we get off to a good start because the back end of the season will be pretty hard on the road down to Melbourne and Sydney..
