What was the original fixture? West Coast in Melbourne or Richmond in Perth? I think Richmond travelling as the away tem to Gold Coast is a huge win for Richmond though
Originally at the G on the 21st June.
Had booked a function there as part of my son's 21st celebrations. :(

Richmond playing WCE at Metricon. Great result for both clubs. Not sure why Eagles fans are so concerned/scared of it. No #VICBIAS there.

I agree completely.

This is a good fixture for both clubs.

We get a couple of games at Metricon before Richmond come and play us.

Richmond are travelling off of a 5 day break, but don't have to play us at Optus.

One each.

Will be interesting to see the two teams on a neutral venue. They got beat up over here in 2018 but got the better of us in the game of the season last.

I don't get some of the WCE supporter meltdowns I have already read elsewhere. It's a perfect neutral venue. And it's gonna be a cracking match. What's not to like?

Not the case for melb viewers
unless the broadcast guide on the AFL site is still f**ked when set to Vic- Melbourne it shows the Freo/Suns game as the 7Sat night game. but times are all over the place.

You would think Fox want some good games to sell subs and Kayo anyway.

The best case scenario would have been playing Richmond back at Optus where we touched you up last time.

By time round 5 comes along it will be good to play one of the flag favourites (Brisbane are good, but probably one or two rungs below).

Richmond fans should be happy, they don't have to travel to Perth, but the devil is in the detail.

Travelling to Gold Coast the day of the game off of a 5 day break.

Your thoughts on your fixture?

ok. so the broadcast guide here is just f**ked. hopefully with the double headers Fox will do them in 4k.

7 must be happy with the slate they get, almost every big game is there and they are getting extra games with the Thursday games unless thats just a thing for the restart. pitty it means BT or Brayshaw calling most of them

Well having it be an Eagles home game obviously is the annoying aspect for some.
Is there any evidence to suggest football might return to Perth in July/August? Everything I've seen seems to indicate Mcgowan isn't going to back down.

All WA and SA clubs are going to have to play some home games on the Gold Coast.

I completely understand this sentiment. I think the reasoning would be due to wanting clubs to be able to play in front of crowds at home later in the season and the possibility of painting themselves into a corner by having both Perth sides (and by extension Adelaide sides) due for a run of home games later in the season meaning some clubs may end up not playing home games in the last four weeks.

I’m not surprised, Hawthorn always getting shafted by fixture

We play Geelong away, Richmond away, North home, game at Marvel, North’s home ground and GWS away. WTF

No home games at MCG in those 4 weeks
Correct me if I am wrong..... No "home" games at MCG for first 4 weeks... hmm didn't think Hawks playing Richmond "away" at MCG without fans would make much of a difference on who is listed as the "home" team
However losing a "home" game at Marvel to North is being shafted I give you that one.

And yet Geelong play all their games in Geelong. How does that work?

All the WA and SA teams are playing a “home” game at the Gold Coast. We’ve at least got an advantage in actually playing a visiting team, as opposed to the other three who are playing their home game against another team that’s been camped up there for weeks.

It’s not ideal but none of this is ever going to be ideal. It’s a reasonable compromise.

I think given the border is still closed it's unavoidable. If it wasn't us, it was always gonna be someone. Its an unusual year. We just gotta roll with it.

See my above response. There's nothing we can do about it. After the crap that is #VICBIAS which has been sprouted, i reckon it's great it's at a neutral venue. Footys footy. Play the game and may the best team win. It doesn't matter what i think about the draw, i doubt Gil will care.

Was mainly making a point that we have been reamed with the early draw. particularly the difficulty of the draw, 3 of the top 4 of last year in the next 4 weeks

Hopefully the last 4 games at the MCG playing 3 of the bottom 4 teams of last year, not holding my breath though.

I also think it's a reasonable compromise. I'm interested to see the match at a neutral venue, it's very rare for us.

The West Coast/Adelaide match will be an Eagles home game. Probably in round 6.

Ah I see yeah it is quite difficult, mainly due to hosting North at Marvel and being shafted to play Geelong at their Alphabet stadium.
Good thing about this strange year is that you won't be playing these teams again and hopefully be rewarded with more of a "Richmond like" MCG run leading into the finals.
