stupidity does not discriminateApparently Geelong fans are expecting to host Easter Monday at their tip of a stadium View attachment 771996
GWS was a 3.20 gameThis is a myth...
Last year we played 4 Melbourne based 3.20pm Sunday games and they were largely within expected attendance, at the same venue...
V W Bulldogs - 39,368 (39,544 - 42,198 (2011), 47,474 (2010), 31,982 (2007)
V N Melbourne - 36,174 (45,059 - 50,567 (2016), 42,103 (2013), 42,508 (2008)
V St Kilda - 35,883 (27,814 at Docklands - 24,795 (2018), 33,886 (2015), 24,765 (2013)
V Richmond - 64,936 (60,313 - 70,701 (2018), 58,342 (2017), 51,892 (2016)
The 3.20pm timeslot is a good crowd drawing timeslot, the reason it looked bad last year was that our first 3 Melbourne based games were arguably against the lowest drawing teams in the competition (W Bulldogs, Norf, Aints)
So in that sense a middle of the road Hawthorn is only going to drawe 35,000 to 40,000 against the minnow Melbourne based teams.
The big problem is the 4.40pm Sunday slots, and we had two of those last year...
V GWS - 14,636 on Mothers Day (22,212 - 17,906 (2014), 26,518 (2012)
V Gold Coast - 31,331 (26,200 - 27,392 (2017), 28,112 (2013), 23,098 (2012)
Interesting that our two lowest attendances against the Giants and Suns in previous seasons were also 4.40pm Sunday games.
In 2014 we played the Giants in the graveyard slot (and almost lost, it was Brendan Bolton's first game as coach) and in 2012 we belted the Suns.
Those poor attendances were in seasons that we drew 50,023 v West Coast (2012) and 72,768, 72,216 and 43,583 to home games against the Swans, Cats and Dockers (2014)
If the past is anything to go by, the Hawks v Lions game really should draw 35,000 to 40,000 and hopefully 40,000 plus with good weather
Oh boy
Reported by Tom Browne, so take it for what it's worth, but he's reporting this:
HAWKS, EAGLES TO PLAY ON ANZAC DAY
Hawthorn and West Coast will join Collingwood and Essendon in facing off on Anzac Day next year.
Triple M’s Tom Browne is reporting the Hawks and Eagles will contest the game in Tasmania.
It is understood the match will precede the traditional clash between Collingwood and Essendon. The Hawks and Eagles are set to face off at about 1.10pm while the Pies and Bombers will reportedly be playing in a non-traditional timeslot of 4.40pm.
Good old Tommy, I reported this at 9am this morning, in this very same thread.Reported by Tom Browne, so take it for what it's worth, but he's reporting this:

Joke we play Carlton at docklands
We play 1 home game at the MCG after round 13It is not a bad fixture, since the MCG home games are spread through the season fairly well.
But it is not the best fixture Hawthorn could have been given.
