So we finish in the middle bracket again. Which means we can play:

1-2 of: Geelong, Brisbane, Richmond, Collingwood, West Coast, GWS/Bulldogs
2-3 of: GWS/Dogs, Hawthorne, Port Adelaide, Adelaide, North Melbourne
1-2 of: Fremantle, St. Kilda, Sydney, Carlton, Melbourne, Gold Coast

We haven't played Melbourne twice in a year since 2005, somehow think we'll get them twice, invariably once at Docklands and the other one probably Alice :drunk:. Hoping we get:

2x: Richmond, Port, Hawthorne, Carlton, Melbourne.

Interstate to: Port, Fremantle, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide (not getting Perth twice? Yeah I know I'm dreaming)

What do you guys want?

We can always bank on:
GWS away
GC away
Swans away
Freo Away
Eagles away
Adelaide away
Port home

1 game against Collingwood
1 game against Richmond
1 game against West Coast
2 games against Gold Coast

Round by Round
1-Swans @ SCG - get this one out of the way and they start the season like trash of late
2-North @ Marvel - Good Friday i imagine
3-GCS @ MS
4-Dees @ MCG
5-Pies @ MCG
6-Dogs @ Marvel
7-GWS @ Manuka
8-Eagles @ MCG
9-Bris @ Gabba
10-Rich @ MCG
11-Hawks @ MCG
12-Crows @ AO
13-BYE
14-Dockers @ Marvel
15-Port @ AO
16-Blues @ MCG
17-Saints @ Marvel
18-Swans @ MCG
19-North @ Marvel
20-GWS @ Marvel
21-GCS @ Marvel
22-Cats @ MCG
23-Crows @ MCG

Crows, Swans, North, Suns & GWS - double up games
6 trips as per usual, but none to Perth. 2 to QLD, 2 to SA, 2 NSW
7 games at Marvel
9 games at MCG

Would tip us for 13-16 wins if we get a 4-0 start and don't stuff up what would be a dream double up run.

No chance of that. Like actually zero.

You said Wishlist.

Fully expect 2 trips to Perth and Adelaide.
One game against gcs and the lions at the Gabba.
And probably the swans at the scg.
Needs to be realistic though. When was the last time we played none of Carlton, Collingwood and Richmond in a year? When was the last time we didn't play Carlton twice in a year three years in a row?

Well now 2019 is done let's look to the future. Who do we think we'll double up against next year? Keep in mind the rules around this can be found here:

My predictions
Collingwood - Traditional rival and will fill the top 6 requirement
North Melbourne - The 2nd game was a ripper and with Good Friday I think the AFL will slip a return match in again.
Hawthorn - Similar to Collingwood, a traditional rival but in the middle group with us.
Carlton - With them potentially on the up the AFL will look to give them as much drawing power as possible. They cant have a return match against Richmond and Collingwood so likely to get us.
GC - I think the AFL likes to give return matches against the bigger clubs to their projects so I'm being optimistic and hoping it's GC instead of GWS.

What's everyone else's thoughts?

Richmond
West Coast
Bulldogs
Hawthorn
Carlton

Not easy. Also, the usual Fremantle in Perth, Sydney in Sydney and GWS in Sydney

I'd be amazed if we got 2 in the top group and the top ranked team in the middle group.

It's very similar to what we had this year. We got 2 from the top (Coll, GWS), the top ranked middle side (Syd) + the ninth side (North). Also, no bottom 4 sides either.
Fair point. We'd be incredibly stiff to get it again though?

Yeah that's true. I hope that's not the actual fixture. Can't beat Richmond and Bulldogs on our good day.
Mate the 2020 version of Essendon can beat anyone.

Can’t wait to play 4 games at Optus FML

Only one game against both Carlton & Richmond this year. I would expect that to change next year. Our record against the Tigers doesn't really need much explanation & our form against Carlton is hardly noteworthy either.

No trip to the Gabba this year... but after the Lions successful 2019, that will no doubt be rectified in 2020 as we are one of the higher drawing teams when playing in Queensland.

No more Thursday Night games in WA please. Or another road trip to Sydney after a 5 day break. Would also like to avoid playing day games in WA or Queensland in the first month of the season (March/April) ... playing in those warmer conditions at times in recent years has completely stuffed us up for the following couple of weeks afterwards. So after saying that I expect to play West Coast in Perth on the Sunday of Round 2 when it's about 32 degrees... and then a trip to Queensland not long after.

We will play 6 interstate games again.
Only play Sydney & Freo once, but west coast twice
//start melt
The AFL will try to make it as hard as possible, because they are a pack of pricks. They will schedule us on the Sunday in Perth the week before Anzac day, then on the Thursday following, in Brisbane/GC or back in Perth.
Hope we dont play North on good friday as i dont want north to make any money from us filling the stadium.
If Joe leaves, guarantee we will play sydney round 1 in sydney.
We will play 2 teams after their byes and they will probably be interstate.

Torn.....I hate the AFL but still love the game.....dont get me started on umpires and goal review systems.

//end melt
