Lots of people, including the majority of the AFLPA, petitioning for shorter pre-seasons. Sam Mitchell is on record as having fought against that type of mentality and I agree completely.

Pre-season doesn't have to be drive yourself into the ground with fitness training for so many months, but getting back early and being able to really focus on skills for a while before the season starts will give you a huge advantage.
