Jesus this hurts.. how in gods name does he rip his pec? No mention of him having issues in Morwell.

Glass half full... CJ would have to be a walk up start for round 1.
Reckon you know the how, I'd suggest long arms in a tackle / not being able to get body on in a tackle. In the NRL it happens when a tackler throws an arm out to grab a player on the way past often dragging the arm behind the tackler.

Anyways no bloody good, if I'm not mistaken Hardwick was our number one when it came to highest 1% defensive actions last season.

Absolute crickets with Gunston? Just being managed after last year or still not over it?

Is bad luck for Hardwick but we have some options:
-replace “like for like” with CJ or greaves (don’t think Morrison can play as a lock-down defender)
-play frost as a smaller lock-down defender (has speed required) and swap in a flanker/runner (of which we have many different options - could even be CJ)
-move silk down back (and Minch likely plays forward)

if BB is playing, playing frost as a small would be my preferred option - then can slot in Scrimshaw or CJ on the opposite flank to Sicily and maybe add a runner to the bench.

Stratton to play small - on Cameron round 1.

We have Sicily, Frawley, Frost, McEvoy even Hartley as tall options to cover for Stratts.

Remember when Gibson did it back in 2014 (10 weeks with a detached tendon) - hopefully it's not a full blown tear, then somewhere in the 4-6 weeks region is about right

Honestly think Burgoyne will be the guy. Can't replace our most composed small/medium defender with someone like CJ who is not composed enough at all.

Also think it's probably a bit too early for Greaves just yet, would much rather Burgoyne in that role.

Then that opens up a role up forward/midfield so then Cousins/Jones/Walker/Ross could get their chance.

Stratton generally plays on the number 1 small, think it's more about replacing our primary ball user in defence.

Blake Hardwick: Chest – 12 weeks

“Unfortunately, Dimma collided with another player in a contest in our most recent game against the Saints and he has ruptured his pectoral muscle. He requires surgery and that will likely be a 12-week injury.” LB

That's footy. Don't dwell on who's out, in fact being so early in the season there'd be a bunch of VERY hungry players eyeing off the chance to come in and do well.
Always look to see if you can actually get better by finding a player who rises to the standard when you weren't even looking hard in his direction. That way the injured player out is just extra salsa for the team to use when he returns.
CJ for mine.

Is Hartley the right type of player to replace Dimma. Properly defensive player with good foot skills?? Not saying he can step straight in at the same level but wondering who is the closest ‘for like’ player.
Would love to keep Berger forward if possible.

Yeah, that guy Hawthorn drafted acquired drafted for depth. Good point. Lucky.
