They never looked like a wooden spoon side once Teague took control though. Docherty will be back, Cripps on the back of a monster year, youngsters also getting more experience (fingers crossed Curnow's knee will be OK). So on what basis will they win the spoon next year?

You're just an idiot.
not to mention the possible addition of papley, martin, betts and maybe even more...... shoo-in for a wooden spoon!

I am not one to defend Vadge but you blue supporters do this every single off season, you so over rate your own players its not funny. Docherty was elite, prior to doing his knee twice in consecutive years. It will take him a long while to regain touch and confidence so will be a shadow of himself till he does so. When Teague took over, your season was already shot and those you did beat in the last half of the year, guess what ? there season were already shot too. There are so many unknowns about your side coming into 2020 but hearing you blokes, your guns are all going to fire and the rebuild is near complete and watch you blokes zoom from 15th ? this year to the 8 in 2020.

Just as likely to happen is Teague is another geishen, you over pay for "guns" in betts, papely, and martin and it all goes to s**t but you dont have any quality picks in 2021 to correct it.

For the record, i see the blues finishing 13th and the saints 11th

1. Richmond
2. West Coast
3. Collingwood
4. Geelong
5. Brisbane
6. Western Bulldogs
7. Greater Western Sydney
8. Essendon
9. Melbourne
10. Port Adelaide
11. Fremantle
12. Hawthorn
13. Sydney
14. Carlton
15. North Melbourne
16. St Kilda
17. Adelaide
18. Gold Coast

Hard to judge early on without fixtures, trade period/free agency and injuries

Richmond clear premiership favourites

West Coast, Collingwood, Brisbane behind them

How was my post overrating them in any way?

And you did it every year from 1981 to 2012

Doing these before trade/draft/fixture is throwing a lot of darts, but fun to do:

1. Richmond - Unless someone can work out how to break down their system, should go deep into finals again.
2. WC - Adding Kelly, although some question marks on Kennedy, but were unlucky not to finish top 4, and have a team that can get close to Richmond.
3. Bulldogs - Thumped in elimination final, but hot form up to that point, injury issues slowed them down, and still very young list.
4. Hawthorn - Beat 3 of the 4 preliminary finalists in final 8 rounds. If they maintain momentum and get Mitchell back, should be enough to play finals.
5. Pies - So far don't appear to be losing much, unlucky with injuries at pointy end of season.
6. Geelong - Kelly gone, and some aging players, but home ground advantage should get enough wins to play finals again.
7. Brisbane - Harder draw, and will miss Hodge's on field leadership. Building towards genuine flag tilt in 2021 perhaps.
8. GWS - Will field a stronger team next year, but history hasn't been kind on those on the receiving end of GF thumpings.
9. Freo - Some impressive wins this year, with some injury luck could push up into the 8.
10. Port - Their own worst enemy at times, very hard to know which Port is going to turn up. Best is good enough for finals, but not seen often enough.
11. Melbourne - Still have a decent list, and injuries didn't do them any favours this year. Start 2020 healthy, and should improve.
12. Essendon - Still appear to lack the talent to avoid bouncing around 7th-12th.
13. Carlton - Definitely improved as the season went on, but apart from Brisbane their wins in the latter part of the year mostly against poor opposition.
14. North - Did better than expected last year, but can't see them climbing over others.
15. Adelaide - Looked very ordinary at times, like to have them higher due to home games, but losing to Carlton when finals still alive makes trust hard to find.
17. Sydney - Still rebuilding, Buddy no longer the force that can drag them over the line in enough games to push the 8.
17. Saints - This low seems wrong, post-trade ladder will likely jump them up a few spots, but unclear which deals will be closed yet.
18. GC - hard to see them improving enough to finish any higher.

other than GC, that bottom 4 doesn't really feel right, but struggled to see others losing enough games to displace Adelaide, Sydney, Saints. Saints and Sydney seem very unclear with lots of trade stuff swirling around them.
