Massive indictment on the Lions as a football club when they can't even provide an update on how the reserves players are going. Check this out by Essendon against our players.
It pisses me off to no end. Pretty much all other 17 clubs are doing something, except us.

No doubt the club will have its excuses.

The answer is probably simpler, that we're cutting costs wherever we can.
I don't buy the cutting costs excuse if that is what the club are doing. There would 100% be a few coaches at these scratch matches, one of them sit down for 10 minutes and do a match report, surely not too much to ask.

Inexcusable, and so so poor. We shouldn’t have gotten rid of Anthony the media manager, and obviously Josie Fielding, the gun!

Perhaps when we get the bye they could give us a run down on how each player is tracking.

Obviously actual match reports aren't as useful given it's just scratch matches

I can provide a template for the writeup

[player X] has been working on a, b, c. We are pleased with their progression. They had a good game against [Insert team name]. Will be pushing/hoping for senior games soon

I reckon the angst about Scratch match reports is way over the top and we need to cut the Club some slack. Who knows what sort of resources pressure we are under. Fages alluded to the financial situation when he talked about us not contesting McStay's ban - a far more significant issue than scratch match reports. Meanwhile, more affluent clubs like WCE and Geelong fund appeals and get their players off. Without knowing the background, I reckon we owe the Club some leeway on this trivial issue.

T Rick, I think you're excusing our club for a terrible job they have done of dismantling a top media department into a dogs breakfast. If financial considerations are at the core of those decisions, then how hard is it to use Lion's Insider’s account and ask for a volunteer/s to go and watch a couple of scratch matches and write a report to be placed on the club's website. (COVID compliant certainly) It's not just the lack of reserves reports, it's the whole media area that appears to have been decimated with the resultant quality being significantly impacted. How come no one is being accountable for what's happened in that department?

I am more than happy to give the Club the benefit of the doubt on this because clearly we have been hit financially and to what extent I can only guess but Fages reference to finance being a reason why McStay's ban was not appealed is particularly revealing. The fact that we are 7:2 after 9 games is far far more important to me than reports on meaningless scratch matches. Happy to agree to disagree on this one...

Completely disagree that our players development, particularly those first to fourth year players, is meaningless.

It may be to you, but I doubt many would be calling them meaningless, even more so due to the fact that our development players are playing competitive matches week in, week out, against AFL opposition players and clubs it never gets to play outside of the northern clubs on a weekly basis, which the club has never had before.

And you call that meaningless, what, because there isn't four points on the line playing amateur players (I'd hardly call many NEAFL players semi-professional) from Redlands or Canberra or Sydney Uni?

And as a club, yeah, I'd expect better than what we are getting by way of communication, even if it is a Mitch Hahn or Josh Hunt doing a 3 minute video. Now if having a conversation is that difficult or has anything to do with financial considerations, then I am completely lost for words.

Josie was sh*t. Sorry to say but he voice annoyed me a lot. Glad she's moved on.

I know I too judge people's overall job ability by some small fraction of their job description.

From what I understand she isn’t gone for good!
She picked up some work on a contract during the initial lockdown period stood down as a result.
When that contract period is over, my understanding is she will be back, hopefully in time for finals.
Hammo was her replacement during that period.
He signed a 3 month contract to replace her.

I've got to say I quite enjoyed her player interviews, seemed better prepared than others who've been in the media for decades.

The voice , never noticed. Sorry she's no longer there and hope she's been able to find something else.

Some might say your voice annoyed them a lot, and they’ve never heard you talk.
