If we can't replace and improve upon what Kennedy and Polson bring to all phases of play via picks 38 and 48 of this draft, or the rich delisted free agency pool, our list strategy teams should probably shut up shop now.
Just out of curiosity Jim who out of the DFA’s would you be looking at ? ...

We currently have a 38/4/1 split and having to take 2 players at the ND, meaning we have to take 2 players off the main list, at least -

Uncontracted Main List players - Kennedy, Polson & Macreadie
Rookie Listed players - Phillips, Moore

My preference would be -

1. Kennedy gets one year
2. Polson is delisted
3. Macreadie goes onto the rookie list
4. Phillips gets another year as a rookie
5. Moore gets delisted.
6. Owies can stay the third year on the Cat B list

2 players at the ND and no rookies taken on.
We may though be able to take another player on, should CCurnow be done for the year.

I do though have the feeling that we may keep Moore ahead of Phillips....which would be tough but maybe also, somewhat fair.

Keep a list spot for the multiple in season drafts
why didn't we take tom phillips from scumwood in trade period good pick up for hawks and cheap

FB Plowman Jones Docherty
HB Williamson Weitering Saad
C Walsh Setters Williams
HF Martin McGovern Murph
FF Fisher Harry Cuningham
R TDK Cripps Ed

IC: Dow, Levi, Kennedy, Fogarty

As the year progresses you'd like to see Marchbank, Pittonet, LOB, Dow, Philp, SPS etc pressing their cases.
I think Kemp will be a slow burn, a big boy with a wonky knee should be given time to ensure his body and confidence where it needs to be.
It's not a perfect squad by any stretch but we're much better positioned to have players actually have to earn a game.

Now, if only Charlie could get a decent run at it..
I can tell you right now. No chance Newman isn't in the side Round 1 next year.

very mixed bag of opinions re phillips on the pies board this season - one extreme muppit suggested the only good thing about losing their final was never seeing him in the b & w again - go figure............

We only "have to" take one player in the ND now as per announcement on last day of trade period.

Effectively we need to decide if Macreadie/Kennedy are better prospects than a draftee.

what would you expect from collingwood nuff nuff supporters probably just got out of jail

If this time next year we are still not sure if Dow, O Brien, SPS, Cuningham and Fisher are going to make it as consistent AFL players, I say we pull the pin on at least one, maybe two of them. We've invested heavily in them via draft picks and we need to see more in terms of consistent output. We won't move up the ladder if those guys continue to be conditional, inconsistent performers. The key to our success is the organic growth of the youth we have drafted, complemented by the likes of Martin, Saad and Williams.

Stocker, Kemp, Setterfield, Philip also absolutely essential but have scope for another development year or two.

OK. I missed that. It sure makes it skinny pickings.
Makes sense that we'd want to push up the draft order then, as we really don't need any more project players.

This draft may be lucky to hit he 50 mark, then.
I can see why we've brought it back to one night only.

Too much money

Adelaide: Crocker, Gallucci
Collingwood: Scharenberg
Fremantle: Isaiah Butters
Kangaroos: Ahern, Murphy, Pittard
Port: Atley, Frederick
Richmond: Turner
St Kilda: Parker
West Coast: Watson

I'm expecting some more interesting delistings in the next few days as list sizes are confirmed.

Definitely some interesting names ...geez would love us to be looking seriously at Scharenberg ...

Scharenberg will either be at Adelaide or at Glenelg next year.
Yup, that's the most likely outcome, but always worth putting a call in if we think we can tool him up to be close to the 22 next year and can sell a vision to him.

Extremely talented playmaker as a junior, and I thought he'd evolve into a tall balanced midfielder.

Could we take Butters as an SSP? Hes never played a game. Does that count?

You suggesting one of these or just creating a list of delisted players?

Are you telling me we don't have anyone who would have similar sentiments about any of our whipping boys? Hear it regularly on Game Day threads.

Lots of kids will get to play that extra year of junior footy. Good for them and those with a good draft hand next year.

What do we all think of the potential best 22 for next year? Without too much thought, this is mine. Those marked with an asterisk (*) have potential to move from the field, or bench into our emergencies. Those who are stiff to not be listed at all are Matthew Kennedy, Lachie O'Brien and Jack Newnes.

B:
Lachie Plowman, Liam Jones, Caleb Marchbank*
Sam Docherty, Jacob Weitering, Adam Saad

C:
Tom Williamson*, Sam Walsh, Sam Petrevski-Seton*
Tom DeKoning, Patrick Cripps, Zac Williams

F:
Jack Martin, Charlie Curnow, Marc Murphy*
Michael Gibbons*, Harry McKay, Mitch McGovern*

INT:
Eddie Betts*, Zac Fisher, Will Setterfield, Brodie Kemp*

EMERG:
Nic Newman, Marc Pittonet, Ed Curnow, David Cuningham, Paddy Dow, Levi Casboult

Would love to hear everyones thoughts on this. Obviously, I have assumed that Charlie is playing round one - if he wasn't to be then Casboult or Pittonet would come into the side - depending on how Teague wanted to play it. I think there is potential for Pitto to come in and rotate in the ruck with TDK, with TDK resting in a pocket. If that were the case, TDK would be a pocket, Pitto a ruckman - with Martin, Cripps or McVoern starting out of the square and McKay playing CHF.
