I'm not sure where HARKER got Arr0w saying it'll come down to Fogarty Vs Gibbons.

Arr0w didn't question Fogarty's selection, if it eventuates.

He just stated that Gibbons would be selected, if healthy.

The only way Arr0w loses a bet is if Gibbons isn't selected and Fogarty is.

If both are selected then Arr0w is right in what he said - Gibbons was selected.

I can see a clear path where both are selected and for very different roles.

Nothing to do with Fogarty. If Gibbo plays, Arrow wins.

And as Arr0w has stated from the beginning, he's not arguing one over the other. He feels Gibbons will get selected regardless of whether or not Fogarty gets selected.

That one may get selected and one may not is not mutually exclusive.

HARKER then went as far as to clarify bet for you Arrow. Then the backtracking started.

I would suggest clarifying a bet before agreeing to it in future, it simply is not Harker changing the terms here, it is you.

I do agree your position hasn't changed, you have consistently mentioned Gibbons would play, however that is not how the bet was presented to you.

Mind you, I think it is virtually impossible for the bet to be settled. Selection does not come down to simple 1 player V the other, and in the very rare circumstance it does, it is even rarer for us as fans to know that. Teague is highly unlikely to come out and say on the eve of Round 1 and say "Fog just pipped Gibbo for the HFF/bench role", when they do comment it is about team balance, etc.
The bigger issue is the bet clearly has it as a no result if both play, which is not what Arrow was intending.

Just to put forward the reason for it in the first place; The CFC in recent times have left the door open wider for a start to new recruits than those already on the list. If it was a call between Fogarty & Gibbons, I feel the club would side with Fogarty. I's as simple as that. No hate for others...none at all.

Maybe there's a misunderstanding an if so....no big deal....and maybe there's no misunderstanding, bit game playing. I'm not sure, but who cares. Move on.

If I was in charge of the team, Gibbons would start rd 1 ahead of Fogarty. Fog would be close, and I hope he would be able to pinch a spot off someone like Betts by the end of the year.

Do we have the services of a lawyer who specialises in contract law on this forum? Was an interesting exchange. To be honest dont like seeing bets arranged on this forum. Now getting back to my last post, do we trade our draft picks back for a higher draft pick on draft day?

Against a specific player type, sure. Week-in, week-out, no way. He can body up to a larger mid, like he did Fyfe, but against a smaller & more nimble running player he'd get left for dust.

There's also a potential balance issue, if Jack purely plays out of the middle alonside Cripps & Setters. That's 3 big guys who are hardly quick. You can offset that to a degree, depending on who's also running through the middle & how much pace there is on the wings/flanks, but it's something to consider.

The Cripps-Setterfield-Kennedy trio really struggled when we didn't have the ball, and I worry the same might happen with Jack as the 3rd. Yeah, there's rotations and all that, but you're still wanting your primary dedicated mids (A-team) to spend the majority of the time there and in reality we've normally only got 1 predominantly inside mid on the bench (1 def, 1 inside, 1 outside, 1 fwd).

Jack could be a bit of a fwd/mid utility coming off the bench; can play as a flanker, can kind of play the 3rd tall, can be an inside midfielder or a stopper against certain opposition mids.

I can't vote but I know about Williams and Williamson, yet next to nothing about Kemp, so he'd be my vote.

I like Williamson however he's not that clean below his knees or with his hands in general so not sure a midfield role is on the cards. Especially if it puts his back at risk. Then again Newnes isn't clean below the knees. I do like his pace, kicking and aggression, in that regard he's a lot like Newnes.

Kemp is a tough one. Do you play him back because he's young and he can? Do you play him forward because he just might be a very special talent. Is he going to have the fitness to play midfield.

Gibbons or Fogarty? Why not Fogarty or Betts? A bit of competition there will be good. Cuningham is under the most pressure here. He struggled last season for consistency and holes such as lack of forward pressure, hardness and fitness were exposed.

Competition for spots is going to be hot with our middle and lower rung players.

One if not two of Betts, Fisher, Gibbons and Fogarty will miss out.

Next to no chance Betts isn't picked to play his 200th for us R1, however I really hope we don't see Betts for much more than 10 games or so next year if form is similar to this year. Would not like to see him taking games from Fisher and Fogarty all year.

Interested to see how Fisher, Gibbons and Fogarty gel though. Gibbons really improved his forward craft this year, but id like to see them all rotate through the middle for short periods.
