hate them all
yeah I honestly agree, there are no guaranties in the AFL, especially when we recruit blokes like Pickett and Stack for nothing
We'll probably know who is in the firing line around mid year when contracts are being handed out
RCD and maybe Turner are the only ones that look safe from last years draft
16 players are up for contracts at the end of 2020, that's a lot, some will have to be let go unfortunately
the theory i go on is those that are fit that don't get a look in generally are the ones to go unless they are developement players.

I like Pickett as much as the next Tigers supporter, I mean come on, he is a 1 game premiership hero

But I also wonder whether he can generate consistent performance which would make him truly worthy of the status many give him. His GF performance was built on great VFL form leading in, timing was perfect, but is that his peak?

Townsend had a purple patch in 2018 and wasn’t sighted again. Hope it won’t be the case with Pickett.

Also wonder whether Higgins will get back from what happened to him. A brain bleed is very serious particularly when related to a congenital condition. Hope for his sake he is ok to come back

Huge difference between Towner and Pickett.

Pickett has been BOG in 2 Grannys and was almost BOG in the midfield in the AFL granny. Towner is good at VFL level but never ever looked close to it at as a midfielder at AFL level. Also towner played his role, but he hardly dominated even when he kicked 11 in 2 weeks just right place right time. Picketts one game, as previously mentioned, was close to BOG in the midfield.

Towner had been at the club for a few years when he had his run. Pickett joined the club mid year, had to learn AFL systems and didn't complete a pre season.

And finally only have to watch them both play to see Towner was maximising his talent, Pickett is nowhere close to his ceiling.

OK...so can you re-call any club pinching a re-rookied player from another oppo club?!? Just wondering how big a risk this option is...
StK took Ryan Abbot who I believe Geelong had committing to re-rooking. Richmond took Banfield a few years back who Brisbane had committed to.

Cheers DC seems it's not too much of a hand shake convention to take/pinch another oppo Club's attempt to re-rookie a player...
Their is a risk involved with this sneaky option...good play if you can make it work though!

Pretty sure Tim Kelly said similar things early on, until the Eagles came offering decent coin and longer term security than the Cats were capable of offering
Dusty was offered massive coin to join LoLnorf.(I know bad example.Like everyone wants to go to Norf right)

Yeah Short reminds me a bit like Butler, could be traded
But yeah the three M's are the ones early on to go
Interesting times ahead. The squeeze for spots is getting tighter which is a good bitter sweet sign.

I'm not sure that he did actually say that, also the big difference is that Kelly needs the additional family support for his wife raising their autistic kids. If that wasn't the case then I don't think Kelly would have left Geelong.

Why would Marlion Pickett want to change a Premiership number 50?

Why wouldn't he?

Would love to see someone of quality in the 30 and he seems a perfect fit.

Not quite the same but I remember We were committed to taking John McCarthy and he had committed to us in the pre season draft before port pinched him a whole back. Massive sliding doors moment cos sadly he died on their end of season trip in Vegas 😩

why do you want to ruin Bakers career?

Don’t want stack or Pickett to change numbers both suit the respective numbers they currently have

Naish into 6 the others will sort themselves
Give the higher numbered flag winners like Soldo, Baker and Pickett the choice to go to a lower number or keep flag winning number but leave the choice up to the player Winning the flag earnt them the choice imo

Saints pinched Abbott from Geelong this year, but generally it doesn't happen as clubs usually follow a handshake agreement not to pinch another clubs players
Usually clubs have a gentlemens agreement to let the player slide for 1 pick in their rookie draft but Cats had a few and Saints thought he probably wasnt an important player to the cats and the clubs probably had a chat about it and cats happy for him to be taken.

Stack #44 & Pickett #50 wont change their numbers imo
Balta / Ross / RCD / Baker will prob get new numbers though some this year and other following years
But Stack in #44 looks amazing so why change
