We need quality users. Too many snaps around the corner without looking, seems to be a mentality they all catch when we're playing poorly to just try and get the ball forward. I know he's a premium but tonight just showed the importance of securing some genuine composure with ball in hand, Josh Kelly, Laird, Mclean, Witherden, Perryman, Williams hell ill even settle for someone like Karl Amon to get Samo out of the backline.

We will not make a charge in finals with Ed, Gibbons, Setters, Kennedy and Cripps as our primary ball movers. They can do the crash and bash, but we desperately need some class.

I think at least 2, probably 3 of Murphy, Simpson, Kreuzer, Betts and Curnow need to be off the list next year.
With the remaining the year after.

For mine its Simpson Betts and Kreuzer who finish up this year.

Simmo and Murphy.

Don't see a point in cutting Kreuzer this year if he gets back to fitness, because we'll need to find another decent ruckman who won't be playing ones. I think wait another year.

Ed still has a lot of good footy left. Eddie depends on who we can bring in to replace him.

Would we get a first rounder from a Perth club if we traded SPS ? He looks lost in defence and never got enough of the ball as a midfielder. Just seems to have stagnated.

There’s also been a lot of games where he’s done well in defence recently.

This “thing” where a player has one average game and it’s suddenly “trade time” really does one’s head in.

Ed has plenty of footy left. Good is not a given.

Well that’s up to you. This is a list management thread and I am asking if people think he has currency. I am not seeing him developing as well as we’d like in either midfield or defence. Shoot me.

If we got good currency I’d be thinking about a trade. Otherwise I’d persist.

Resounding yes to both of them. Hewitt massively flies under the radar but is a very solid player, Perryman similar (although has been getting some press this season).
Hewitt I've been interested in since he was draft eligible, but Perryman is a tricky one. I like him off half-back, but we don't really have a need there.

I understand some see him as a midfielder, but I think he's too slow off the mark for the wing (particularly in our team), and not nimble or powerful enough to make a difference at the clearance. Really good player, just think we'd need to revisit our setup very significantly to play him, so combined with the asking price I'm not a fan of the move.

Im a yes to Witherden after tonight. Ive never watched him that closely and he might not provide much run and carry, but he's got some serious composure and hits targets all day. Sad for me to say but feel that Simmo and Murph have to call it a day come seasons end. Their foot skills will and are being sorely missed, need to replace them with some real quality users and Witherden has it in spades.

We’re slow

Hawthorn are slower and older. They setup better and smashed us in the clearances by winning first use and releasing to the outside. Our defensive mindset fell away dramatically when we couldn’t win the inside ball, which extenuated the problem.

Maybe. But we still looked slower than Hawks. I think that’s probably because we were slower; especially in and around the contested ball.

I think Perryman would be great because of his versatility. Forward mid or half back he gets it, uses it and can kick a goal. Bigger body too. Upgrade on Newnes at worst.

It's not our stoppage work, we generally get spanked on the outside

We lack speed, we lack footskills

But it’s not all doom and ****en gloom. We do have some players with pace. Dow and Polson for starters , and then there’s a few of the first year youngsters. I think they need to try something new with the way they structure up.

Dow time? Helps the speed at least. Must be priority number 1 at seasons end.
I said elite kicks remember 😂
But yes, Dow and LOB need to get into the team asap.

Give me Papley, Witherden, Perryman, Bolton and Caldwell and I'll be the happiest man around

That’s why I said helps speed at least. He looks to have bulked a bit too. Would love Papley and Perryman. Papley might give us a bit of mongrel that we lack too.

Drop Samo and send him to the twos to come back as a mid when hes ready and his tank is prepared to play big stints there just don't believe the half back shift is working for him, its like driving a Ferrari in a traffic jam, just not getting the impact we know he can deliver. Fisher has got to come in, he gives us some intensity around the ball

I don't care who we recruit come end of year, if its Josh Kelly or Juddy coming out of retirement... Just make sure they have good foot skills and consistency.

I thought the direct kicks to the opposition were a thing of the past..........
