If we want Pearce, I think we have to give up Fisher.

At this stage it's green-lighted.
Our draft thread sure is going to be thin pickings this year though....and that's a good thing.

Two words: Andrew. Russell.
Also Freo are notorious for having a poor medical staff, so maybe a change of clubs is what he needs?
EDIT: If that's the case we should immediately stop chasing Williams and B. Crouch, they get injured all the time. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and make these risky acquisitions to win a flag.

Oh please dont bring up Jaksch, you'll give me nightmares!Yes some of them have been good. I'm not saying don't chase Zac Williams, just worried the club will overpay like we have in the past for GWS players like Jaksch.
I'd personally prefer Papley though. Not sure why Williams is seen as a future wingman, while Papley who has surely played more games on the wing and in the centre is 'just a small forward'.
Would be incredible, not sure how we find the cap space & currency to make it happen though.Oh please dont bring up Jaksch, you'll give me nightmares!
I dont see Williams as a wingman. I see him as a starting midfielder alongside Cripps and Walsh. I'd like to see us bring in Williams and Papley, plus a few more like Petruccelle.
Well apparently we have a "war chest" but I see what you mean. Williams and Papley would be on healthy contracts but I feel like we have the space to fit them. Petruccelle wouldn't command much. But I guess we have to sign from within as well.Would be incredible, not sure how we find the cap space & currency to make it happen though.
They aren’t much chop but I Smith and Polec are the only two wingers who have had really good games against us and Polec played through the midfield. i could name about 20 midfielders who have had really good games against us.Experienced so called defensive wingers are supposed to, you know, provide defensive coverage for when your mids get turned over. Newnes and the current version of Murphy are not AFL wingers bootlaces imo. We're getting nothing out of our wings, minimal offense and minimal defense. And neither has an upside.
7 games , at most, left for them hopefully.
The big fish we need to secure wears #9 for usWell apparently we have a "war chest" but I see what you mean. Williams and Papley would be on healthy contracts but I feel like we have the space to fit them. Petruccelle wouldn't command much. But I guess we have to sign from within as well.
Will be interesting to see how we handle it. I just hope we are able to land a "big fish" after failing to do so over the last few years.
Considering the rumour of 35 list spots
Where's this from?
GWS can't match. That's why he gets squeezed out.Well apparently we have a "war chest" but I see what you mean. Williams and Papley would be on healthy contracts but I feel like we have the space to fit them. Petruccelle wouldn't command much. But I guess we have to sign from within as well.

As for currency. Williams is a free agent, so we can get him without giving anything up. Just hope GWS dont match because that would stuff us. Papley will cost two 1sts because of his contract and form. Petruccelle would cost a 2nd or so, I dont think west coast could ask for much more considering he hasn't played inm a while.
Well they have a 5 year offer on the table to him at the moment. So they can match unless the offer is high. Eg $700k-$800k per year on a 5 year deal.
Would you consider looking at Jake Kelly from Adelaide? Out of favour and can play tall and small. Would give us more depth and again, could be very cheap. I'd love to see Williams in the guts as well. So much pace and class. Getting Saad would just be amazing as well!
Has been the rumour since about April, been in the Sun and The Age etc.

How will the AFL look with smaller list sizes?
The AFL is set to change in many ways because of the coronavirus pandemic, including the increasing likelihood of smaller playing lists in 2021www.afl.com.au
Clubs are pushing back. Gold Coast have 51 on their list atm most clubs are around 45.
yeh they would be absolutely mad to trade him unless they are getting a very good player back or at least a pick inside 15. The only reason they would give him up otherwise is if they think his ankle is shot
Have a look at our injury list this year, not sure Andrew Russell is everything the club makes him out to be. Big name appointment by the club on huge money. Two words: Andrew. Russell.

But the rumour thread will be going gangbusters from about 3 minutes after the h&a season finishes
