not sure about this, I feel they good balance, their backline has good talls a good runners, the mids have size, grunt and class. They have a multiple Coleman medalist and a handy second tall,
lots of up and coming kids.

it smells there, it’s not talent or balance.

I agree and said as much, although in a different manner.
They're really not building a team and this was highlighted by Deledio a few weeks back....I think.

They look great on their own but don't do nearly enough team things and I don't think the collective is quite as good as we all seem to think they are.
The forward line is lacking though and without Greene, it struggles.

A very dangerous assumption given that if we lose to Fremantle and Gold Coast in the next two rounds, we're likely to end up with a top 4 selection.

Add Papley or Williams to our list, add Charlie back into the forward line, get Cripps right, keep Harry fit, get some more incremental improvement out of Walsh, Setters, SPS, Fisher, Cunners, Willo, Kennedy, Dow and LOB, get Murph and Simmo out of the side with their roles being filled by younger/fitter players.

If I had to choose one midfielder from the Pies, it would be Treloar. Easily in my top 30 players.

Sidebottom is better, but obviously a few years older.

It's not about improvement though. The risk lies in how even the competition is becoming.

If we win on the weekend, we're just outside the 8 and back in the hunt. If we lose, we're 1 win off 17th.

That pack from say 7th to 16th is quite congested, with a lot of teams most likely being separated by percentage.

There's no guarantee where we'll finish next season, even with a player like Papley. We also don't know what type of run we'll have with injuries. There's a massive risk for us.

FWIW, I still think we've got another season stuck in the pack before we really rise.

Why is that? My logic is based on the fact that our three tall targets in Harry, Charlie and Mitch have not played much football together. Given they are integral to the way we play, I'm predicting we'll have some teething problems that need to be ironed out before our system operates like a top 6 side.

Clearly there are problems at North . He got dropped after getting voted no2 player on the ground by Teague and was the player who got them back into the game. That's one player that isn't on the Shaw train. Wonder how many others there are.

Someone will grab him. Very good footballer. Not worth 700k but not actually that far off. Just means we get him cheaper than otherwise.

Combine that with if we finish bottom 6 we will get an ‘easy’ draw.. That advantage is removed this year with the 17 round fixture

I’m a fan but not sure he’s the right fit. Really damaging player who can only shine when his team is on top and he’s getting enough supply but he’s a great goal kicking wingman. I’m not sure he is suited to the way Teague uses the wing position, which requires a ridiculous amount of defensive gut running and sprinting from end to end often just to fill up space.

Didn’t really add him because he was a proven talent. Went back to our drafts pre 2015 and man that was a pile of

Logical play is to offload a couple of talls for some pace. Pretty obvious what we need and what we have to much of.

Random musings:

- I think with likely list size reductions, it would be highly unlikely for us to acquire more than 2 players through trade/free agency.
- I'd sooner retain Polson than Simmo in 2021 - love Kade, but keeping him on a smaller list would be irresponsible and unfair to the blokes coming through.
- I want us to make an active play for Witherden, give him Willo's spot at HB, and push Willo up the ground.
- Williams impressed me last night, don't think we get him, but if Papley comes off the table then Zac is the one to go for.

Wasn't this talk only att he VERY start of the season before all the doom and gloom. We're clearly going to get 80% of a season done, plus we're up 15% in TV viewers with all the lockdowns on, surely it will be back to business as usual next year.

That would be my only worry, He may be a real dickhead. As a player and type and if we got him cheaper because of his salary I would be all over him.

Polec is damaging when up and about, generally woking off others having to do the hard work, but goes missing when having to stem the tide

He is the type that you add when the side is a top 4 contender

AFL have basically confirmed it won’t change, talk this week was expanding lists and playing more games..
