Jack may be on the fringes of our side but you'd think that there'd be a few getting a tap on the shoulder ahead of him - not sure I buy it.

I don’t think Jack would be delisted, I think it’d be more likely he sought a trade. Unless I’m mistaken didn’t he sign a 2yr extension last year?

Maybe part of a package heading North for Papley? I can see JSOS potentially developing into the next Josh Kennedy (of the Haw/Syd variety). Sydney may also see the similarities. Would be a shame, but maybe there is a win in this for all parties.

Jack is a fine player, but he isnt developing into anything he isnt already.. He is not a 20yo.. If it wasnt for his last name Jack would be considered a very good foot soldier, reliable, rarely plays a bad game and does his job most weeks... every premiership list has these types think Nathan Broad, David Astbury at Richmond Mark Hutchings, Jamie Cripps at West Coast.

If there are no Silvagni‘s at Carlton next year Ricky Mott, it won’t have anything to do with Liddle and Lloyd, if both are gone, it will be because the coach didn’t want them. Which there’s nothing to suggest he doesn’t.

If Lachie Hunter and Tom Papley are both available to us. Which way would everyone like to go? Elite wingman or elite small forward?

Let’s wait and see DangerousD

Would you look at Tom Phillips, would come a lot cheaper than Hunter and would allow us to still get Papley.
Go big or just look for improvement from within IMO. Actually at this point I just want to see us land whoever it is we decide to chase, after the last couple of big fish slipped the hook

100% Hopefully we just land our targets and get some big improvement from inside. I'd like to see O'Brien in the side soon, I know his defensive game isn't the best but I thought he finished 2019 pretty strongly. I feel he is our best bet for a natural wingman.

when Carlton had a solid block of wins late last season JSOS was involved in so many of the goals through creativity or direct assists, I'd be very sad to see him gone. He has great footy IQ, something this team needs more of.
I dunno why his old man was so keen to get Gov in the door to directly take his own sons spot - it was just brutal.

JSOS is a perfect high-pressure 3rd tall who can also do the odd job high up the ground or even on the ball. Never understood the need for Gov and still don't. as a result it'll push a good player and family royalty out. saddens me.

As one of the blues podcasts said in the last week or two, SPS doesn’t have a deep penetrating kick that the best half backs have, but his short kick is very very good. We need SPS being the guy who kicks into our forward 50 - who gets to lower his eyes and pick the best option available. So we need to get the ball into his hands - basically make him the last in the chain before a forward marks it within the 50. It will be an important role especially as we potentially will have a very potent forward line with multiple targets all possibly heading in different directions to create multiple one on one contests. Good luck to any defense trying to stop SPS and our forward line.

Jimmae referenced the fact that, due to his hamstring issues, he's not got quite the dash or the kicking penetration of his younger days; I would assert that, every now and then, we see him actually put a chase on and catch someone who thought they had him. This suggests it's a confidence thing, confidence in his body as much as anything else. Might just be a matter of time there.

Beyond that, I do agree, but it isn't just his kicking. His handballs in tight are on a par with Cripps at his best; not because of bulk or a batlike sonar that allows Cripps to know where everyone is around him at all times, but because of his ability to thread a handball through the smallest gap in a pack that is only there for a split second. People are out before they know it.

This.

We've a habit on this board of sniffing the wind and sensing a tornado when there's a light shower coming.

TBH there is nothing on the North list that interest me.. all the same type vanilla footballers, rather stick with what we have.

Bro, none of Ben Jacobs, Ben Cunnington, Luke McDonald, Jy Simpkin, Jared Polec, Todd Goldstien, Robbie Tarrant, Tarryn Thomas, or Cam Zurhaar interest you? I'm not saying we should get any of these players but come on, saying there is NOTHING interesting is a bit of a stretch.

Simpkin, Thomas, Zurhaar in a heartbeat

We needed people who could kick goals, we may have just chose the wrong guy. At the time we only had Cas who had kicked over 30 goals in a year, no one rated him and MM done that in his first season. MM was also excellent defensively at Adelaide, I’m not sure where that’s gone though when he has his 10 minute spurts he is still very good.
McKay and Curnow looked like natural goal kickers then we had no one. Simple as that imo.

The idea of a Silvagni-cleansing makes no sense at all.

Jack is under contract and to push him out would front up and then we're in a real shit.
Moving Ben off is one thing....not taking Tom on is another, but to be shown to be pushing Jack out the door....Bad look....really bad look
