I still love Steele. I wish people who say they support the club would get off his back.

Its not a mistake , absolutely stupidity. The majority of the nation is adhering to guidelines outside of their job. He knew better and knows better but thought he was above it all.

I'm not sure I understand the sentiment.

You want a reprieve this year (and fair enough, COVID has hit everyone hard) where if you want to continue to support the club you can, or if you cant support the club, you wont be penalized (years of service continue, etc.).

AND you want a reward next year because you have made the decision to contribute in 2020?

There is no incentive for Collingwood to provide support for next year, they are dipping into their own future fund this year to cover the money that would have normally been provided by members. For the club to have to dip into their future fund again next year to cover the discounts that you have mentioned, they'd be worse off.

Don't forget, being a part of a club runs two ways.

Defintely two ways. 90% the clubs way to 10% the fans way :thumbsu:

Hey DinoSoar, did you get email from AFL today?

If so, which option you taking? I am thinking of the meals one and maybe we could meet up as I don't mind buying seats and think that the normal price of meals is expensive. I did used to do the buffet years ago and it was fun and affordable.

Any other AFL members interested?

No, I haven’t yet but my daughter did which is odd. I thought I’d log in to my AFL account anyway to see the options but there was nothing there for me to select. I think I just have to wait until I get my email, they seem to be releasing in batches.

Wasn't there mention of a commemorative pin for keeping your cash with the club? I'm sure I read that somewhere. A commemorative pin and the promise of a jamboree with all the other suckers pledgers at some time in the future when jamborees are allowed.

I found this exciting. I'm a hoarder of trinkets/sentimental s**t, and I fancy the idea of my descendants opening Shoe Box No. 43 in 100 years and finding out that their obscure ancestor was able to materially support his football club in a time of pandemic. I wish I could stay alive that long to see their excitement.

The AFL has released the 2020 membership numbers, pies down 10% on last year's total. If memory serves me right our membership numbers lifted 10k as the season progressed last year and with no ability to attend the footy, that may not have occurred this year.

Essendon (26%), Melbourne (29%) and Sydney (28%) had the biggest drops. The bomber fans I know only care about footy when they're a chance, so that drop doesn't surprise. Nor does the swans dropping as it's apparent that the northern states only care about their sides when they're on the up.

However considering the coronavirus-affected year, which has seen many lose their jobs and footy crowds be scrapped then reduced, the AFL said it was satisfied the number had only dropped by 64,718 (6.1%).

Essendon does surprise me as they are pretty good with compensating their supporters as is Hawthorn.

I wonder how many AFL membership ended up.

Still waiting for my updated membership card. I rang up in December go change my seats (which were changed without my consent by the club two years prior...)
Dont hold you're breath.

As i understand the membership dept have been stood down this season. I'd pick it back up with them later this year when things (hopefully) return to some kind of normal - at least from an AFL admin perspective

Possibly they didn’t renew in the first place? The swans for example are quoted in the article saying only a couple of percent of their members asked for refunds yet their overall numbers are down 26%.

West Coast one of the big movers. Wonder how many of their new members did it in the hope of getting in to a Grand Final at Optus Stadium.

Tucked at the bottom of Mark Anderson's email sent on Monday 14th. Seems you have to opt in to receive it.

I didn't get that. Only thing for me that's at the bottom of that email is the pre game stream exclusive.
Yep, me too.
It was directly below the stream link on mine. Maybe it's because I didn't do the pledge thing earlier in the year? I have a legends membership if that makes any difference?

Funny thing for me since signing up as a member for 2020 at the start of the season, the above email from Mark Anderson is the one only email I have received from the club for the 2020 season. Is this normal?

I did the pledge as well.
