Interesting, tempting as a forward. Started slow last year as an 18 year old off little pre-season (was only draft eligible by two weeks) then improved as the season wore on.

Greenwood at GCS might be interesting too if he gets more midfield time.
Last year he averaged 85 from 14 games
Including 2 games <10 possessions and 3 games 10-14 possessions in which he scored 53,60,70,80,82

Averaged 93 in games he had 15 or more possessions.
Don't think there will be too many games he has less than 15 possessions playing for the suns.

Hugh Greenwood doesn't have the tank to be a full-time Mid. Change my mind.

Still guaranteed top 10 FWD and has more upside and misses less games than 90% of other options.
Change my mind.

I don't understand the attraction of Greenwood.

About to turn 28 with an average of 85ish each of the last 3 seasons paints a picture. And it isn't pretty for SC. I'd say about a 25% chance he finishes as a top 10 forward for the year. He might benefit a little from a role change but I'm not backing him in to improve by the 10 ppg that he needs to be a keeper.

Greenwood struggles to spread from a contest ....a lot of his scoring comes from tackles in the midfield

IMO the deck in Queensland will not suit Greenwood ....too quick for him ....away games could be diff
He did well on those wet nights, when the game slowed and the game was congested

It's a big no for me

Yep I'll wait and see on him too - a bit pricey for a speculative mid-pricer but a possible upgrade target if he is smashing it

Whip a $100K off his price, and you may consider him

I'm still picking him. Wish me luck.

I don't trust Dew either.

Sun's have plenty of guys who are ok mids, plus Rowell, Anderson, Flanders and Rankine as guys who might get a rotation here and there.

Fair chance Greenwood plays mid/fwd still I reckon.

The point that Wayno made about Greenwood 'struggling with the spread' should be ringing in peoples ears since that has also been the knock on and main reason why Will Brodie has only played 18 out of a possible 66 games under Dew.

I can see Greenwood playing through the midfield in bursts only.

Every Gold Coast night game plays like a wet game given the stadium is right next to the river. Tends to be very contested.

The day games are a fast track.

I reckon he is a Monty to get 15-22 possessions a game, evening playing 50% game time in the midfield, 25% game time up forward and 25% on the bench.

Reckon he’ll be able to score 75 - 115 and average 90+.

Pretty low risk option for me with potential for POD and upside to be a top 8 forward, won’t lose significant money so even if not showing improved scoring will be an easy trade.

Main concern is if we have to run with a back up ruck to start the year with the Witts injury we will get absolutely towelled in the middle and he might score poorly in this situation.

Excellent points !

I didn't know Witts was injured how long is he out for? Any chance a rookie ruck will get early games?

Let's be honest, Stewie Dew doesn't rate fitness as important ...

Apparently will be back for pre season games but was in a moonboot and crutches at the open training this week.

No rookie rucks, either Zach smith - cringe or Peter Wright to Ruck with day and king in the fwd line.

Conroy and murtagh young rucks / kpp but are years away.

Isn't this what they bought Zac Smith back for? (to be the back up ruck)

Hurn was obvious AF.
Barrass is a FB but I was his sponsor so...
The year I won Sponsor if the year Butler had his best SC year. There's that.

Lycett is my pick this year. But I'm thinking he will be held back by Ken so I'm not likely going there.
Still think he will be the third best ruck behind Gawndy
