Well, the FFA, A-League and most of the clubs are flat broke, so in that sense, there might be some sense in stating that soccer has outgrown the A-League.
Apparently, there are NPL clubs much richer than the majority of A-League clubs (but what are the chances of the current owners allowing these clubs into their cosy little comp?)

And you can see that the only way of describing decline as growth is through profound delusion!

Sensational allegations ("Part 1" only) against former South Sydney star/current assistant coach S. Burgess that, allegedly:-

. he seriously assaulted his heavily pregnant, former wife Phoebe Burgess (witnessed by Phoebe's father, well known businessman M. Hooke)

. he used illegal drugs

. SSRLC's doctor conducted secret "in-house" drug tests on him; & covered up his illegal drug use

. SSRLC did not properly investigate complaints, by another woman, made to it

. SSRLC knew of his behaviour, yet decided to promote him to Captain.

. SSRLC failed to report all the allegations, as required ("Bringing The Game Into Disrepute"), to the NRL Integrity Unit

Burgess lawyer denies the allegations. Burgess is facing an AVO court action by the police.

EDIT:

Police are involved in new investigations against S. Burgess: & SSRLC's Doctor?

No that's the lot! Total transfer fees in 2019....

The total receipts from outgoing transfers for J-League clubs in 2019 was less than the Gold Coast Suns revenue....this is what the fantasy hinges on now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
by your estimates a league clubs can expect to return on average 1/2 million they didn't have previously. Of course if they produce a special talent that figure could be massive.

Even just each club averaging 1/2 million is many multiples above what they currently average.
It would help them reduce their current average losses from $3 million to $2.5 million.
But with revenues dropping across the board, those average losses are about to go past the $4 mill mark, so even in the very best case scenario you can come up with for earning transfer fees, A-League clubs continue to go out the backdoor re their financing (or increasingly become at the mercy of crypto-currency scammers).

Ouch, NBA not doing to well.
out of competition months, NFL has re-started, heaps of competition, lack of crowds diminishes product, election season, one-sided playoffs and game.

as the article states, it is happening for most sports. I know the tennis(US Open) was also down by a similar amount.

It has been a crazy busy 2 months of sports.

Well last year's finals ratings were supposedly down as a result of LeBron's absence. So, theoretically, the NBA are lucky to be pulling as much of an audience as they are.

But how busy is the American sporting landscape really if the Aus women's cricket team are getting play on SportsCenter!

Not just sports but all TV viewing has been declining for over a decade - it's like there is another way to view content or something

that wasn't even that special.........

I mean, it was alright but she had 3 stumps to aim for and didn't have to move.

None of those reasons you cite would account for a 45 percent drop off. LeBron was even playing.

New handball adjustments has caused mass debate in the Premier League. Only 26 matches into the season, 20 penalties had been given with 6 of them from handballs. If the trend continued for the season, it would result in 88 penalties from handballs being given. Issue was dicussed on MNF in the UK.

Since then a "softening" of the rule has been applied in response. In a statement, "Referees will be allowed to apply greater subjectivity" following a conversation with the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

having so many of the USA sport comps (both professional and college) overlapping at the same time was always going to hurt

NBA Game 6, 5.6 million viewers, massively down from last years match which rated 18.34 million (up against Sunday night NFL which rated 11.4 million). Game 6 Chicago Bulls V Utah Jazz back in 1998 rated 36.9 million viewers.

Harris polling results show many people have been turned off due to the over abundance of politics that the NBA has adopted and allowed.

I'm more concerned with the AFLPA and the media that seem to want to force the AFL into adopting this stuff, even though it has no relevance here.

The thing about polls is that people lie. I don't believe anybody who says some generic slogans on uniforms is a channel-changer.

Players striking, and having two teams from the league's 2nd biggest market reportedly pushing to cancel the season, might've understandably affected ratings. But that is a situation that bares absolutely no resemblance to the AFL, which btw is doing great in the ratings. So, you guys are talking nonsense.

I'm more concerned with your avatar, seems like you're jamming political views down our throats, even though it has no relevance on a football forum.

Very much doubt it's got anything to do with what's being presented in the product itself or any politics, but some combination of overlapping sports, sports being played outside of its usual season/routine, and Americans now being able to travel/do things like they haven't over the last 6 months, they don't really want to stay inside and watch sports.

Sports viewership on virtually every single sport - whether it be their Tennis, Golf, Soccer etc. on top of the standard big 4 American sports have all had the same downswing of 50-60% even with completely different presentation.
