Is see that WU is thinking of having double headers with Victory and MC.
Also looking at the Western Oval for some home matches.

With the very poor crowds that they are getting so far it would be better if they played at one of the better appointed suburban soccer grounds in the West.

This is turning onto a bigger disaster than the GC for is the AFL the big difference is the AFL have the money to prop the GC up for as long as they want.

Looks like soccer officials at FIFA are looking at changing the interpretation of the offside rule to "Clear Daylight". This comes in the wake of the Liverpool V Wolverhampton match were a wolves players had a goal disallowed due to one of his teammates having a quarter of his boot offside during the build up to the goal. VAR in the premier league has been responsible for disallowing 21 goals whilst awarding 6, a net difference of minus 15. A lot of soccer people are complaining the VAR is ruining the game. Graeme Souness states "what were doing is denying the people the enjoyment of the goal".

This sort of proposal comes up every now and then.
For a while, supposedly, the refs were asked to favour the attacking team in line ball decisions, but I rarely saw evidence of that happening.
Now that they are able to make determinations to the millimetre, which is effectively what the VAR allows. if it's at all possible to alter the rule slightly to favour the attacking team, then they should do it.
However, the soccer world is extremely conservative, and it's harder to get a change to the game rules than getting something through the UN.

The Big Bash is beginning to get up to speed.

Over 40k in Adelaide last night and just over 20k on the Gold Coast tonight for Brisbane v Perth. Just the 5th time Metricon has had 20k people there and the first time since 2014.

That’s good for the GC and probably goes to show that people are actually starting to follow sides when comparing it to the interstate games played up there.

Can the AFL learn anything about scheduling on the Coast?

My point has been very clear - he is toxic for rugby union. It was initiated by someone posting a column about Australian rugby by Alan Jones

The fact that you can't follow basic logic is your problem (and mine to be fair every-time I engage with you like this!)

Interesting reveal from Mr Jones on the powers behind the throne in Rugby Australia:
.... the association of rugby’s new Godfather, Scott Johnson, “with the rugby agent Esportif needs to be explained”.

I asked: “Why are we getting all these coaches who are represented by Esportif?”

Well, if nothing else, there is a continuing brazenness about the behaviour of those who administer our game.

Let’s begin with NSW. What is going on when the once proud Rugby NSW becomes a transit lounge for journeyman coaches and administrators from New Zealand?

From the outside, and few are welcome inside, it still looks as if Johnson and the Esportif sports agency are using the Waratahs franchise as a halfway house for struggling Kiwi coaches and administrators.

There is more, unhealthy would put a positive spin on RA administration.

Be like putting Ned Kelly (Craig) in the CEO role of the AFL and employing his guys in key positions in the AFL, the clubs, the AFLPA, the media ....

The FFA has lost its $15,000,000 (3 years @ $5,000,000 pa) sponsorship from Aldi. It sponsored the soccer Miniroos "Play A Safe Sport" program (similar to Auskick, but Miniroos start at 4 y.o.)
Caltex & NAB have also announced they are not renewing their sponsorship in 2020.

Hyundai, major sponsor of the A League, has a contract which expires in May 2020. It is not known if it will renew, but the floundering appeal of the A League may be ominous for the FFA.

The Lowy family warned the A League clubs they would jeopardise their corporate support, if the A League clubs were successful in gaining independence from the FFA.

It has been reported that the A League clubs are unwilling to risk formal/legal independence from the FFA until the current Foxtel agreement ends in 3 1/2 years- as they fear that Foxtel would have legal grounds, & would be likely, to immediately terminate its Rights' agreement. Foxtel is losing a considerable amount, due to the A League's paltry ratings.

The underlying inferences in the above effectively puts the A-League in no mans land until the TV issues are clarified.

Was there any commercial understanding underwriting Foxtel agreement that would be unenforceable following changes in the ownership of the A-League clubs & or the FFA, as intimated by the above suggestion of the Lowy family warning ?

I dont think the details are known, but it seems to be the reason the formalities of the handover in the A league haven't been finalised, which would be a strong indication. It also makes sense, that a deal between the FFA and Fox over broadcasting the A league wouldnt extend beyond the stat of the A league managing its own affairs. If a business transfers ownership, all its existing deals need to be redone.

Hyundai, the biggest sponsor of the A League, to cease its sponsorship soon?

Hyundai "...displeased by FFA...sacking Stajic as Matilda's coach...".
" The FFA Cup and NPL...have also been without naming rights sponsors since 2017".
"Those alligned with Lowy...warned..there would be an exodus of sponsors if A League clubs..." left the FFA.

From the same article, is this a clear example of a poison pill:
Those aligned with Lowy and departed CEO David Gallop warned during football's long-running congress war there would be an exodus of sponsors if A-League clubs were successful in pushing for regime change at FFA.
The Foxtel deal has liitle appeal for the broadcaster & the detail would be known to A-League owners.

Is the new structure of the A_League off pitch known.

IMHO the combined business clout of the club owners are in better shape going forward than the FFA.

I wonder if the A-League will now try and just get new clubs in (but not in 'owned markets' ala more Sydney sides, but perhaps Dandenong, Canberra, Wollongong, Sunshine Coast) to try and (short term) get some money in? I bet it ends up like the NSL.

Due to the A League's plummeting ratings, & gradual decline in crowds, many are calling for the A League to research and/or move to a winter comp.

Soccer is, of course, a winter game- many are also saying that playing in the summer heat/additional summer fatigue affects A League skill quality:making it less attractive for fans.
(The same argument applies to the AFLW, which should continue as a summer comp. - clean air- but many more evening games should be scheduled).

Based on the soccer forums, I would say a few are calling for it to move to winter, with most saying this would be suicidal.
