And Port Power played less games of short break which was a massive advantage they had this season*, this explain their golden run with injuries that played a very important factors in a short season and teams playing off 3-4 days breaks.
add it to the asterisk 👍

i really dont think if they’d won tonight that they wouldve beaten brisbane or geelong next week anyway..

tomorrow is gonna be warm and sunny up here.. tomorrow nights game will be played on a very nice “dry track“..

that heavy waterlogged, high intensity game tonight will be difficult to back up from. there will be a lot of sore and tired legs in that tigers team after tonight. reacon tomorrow nights winner will go in as favourites next week.. especially if its the lions.

just my opinion of course..

That would be a popular result around here.

Port Power really felt like the were destined to win it this year. Tonight was sweet.

Port were a kick away in 2014 with a young, exciting list. Since then, they made the finals once in 2017 which was a first week exit. With the amount of talent Port have had at their disposal, they have grossly underachieved and this was likely their last chance to grab a flag with this mob. Ebert has retired, the Hoff is gone and Gray, Boak and Dixon (despite the latter 2 having great seasons) are not far away from the end.

They pissed away the opportunity and the cliff is just around around the corner, and fu** it will be glorious. Also, a shout-out to the ******** Duursma was giving Lynch lip all night but dropped a sitter in front of goal. Bow and arrow that one :) .

Don't worry. We (Adelaide) have also underachieved just as badly over the last 18 or so years. It does go both ways.

Feels like Port got to the prelim at the end of an era and not the start of one.

Can't afford to hold that squad together much long with the age profile.

I wonder if they think they can go again or do what we should have done in hindsight and cut the list now?

They could bounce back from a mini rebuild pretty quickly, without truly bottoming out like we have done, but spend the next couple of years trying to recapture this years (of all years) form it could go pear shaped.

They do have some good young players but they won't look so good when they don't have the experience around them.

The next wave of young players won't have that either.

The problem for Port is that talent wise they have a massive gap in the 24-28 age range and their main movers are on the wrong side of 30.

Next year
Gray 33
Boak 33
Rockliffe 31
Ebert 31 (retiring)
Hartlett 31
Dixon 31
Jonas 30
Motlop 30

This year was a now or never moment for them to win a flag. Those years where they kept trading away picks for Dixon, Ryder etc is about to catch up with them.

I've been saying this the entire year, the gaps massive.. not questioning their youngster's, they have done well in picking them.. but tbh they used up all their picks get 3 players and don't have much in the bank left. Most of those listed players will retire/not have much influence after the next few year's. It's kind of a go hard or go home strategy, if they don't pick up a Premiership in the next 1-2 years, they won't be close for years. I guess this is the problem when you don't do a full rebuild, path work at its best.

A quick summary of my thoughts
Rozee - elite if he can get rid of his flopping
Ebert- wanted it more than anyone, respect
Gray, Boak, Clurey- respect
Duursma- an arrogant *******, I hope lynch got in his face
Butters, SPP - frauds
Dixon- massive *******. Eat sh*t.
Jonas- sniper, uninspiring captain. One good tackle
Hartlett- chirpy figjam who's won nothing
Motlop - should be in the fraud category but you sort of need to show something in the first instance. What a joe the goose hack.
Ladhams, Lycett - underwhelming
Byrne Jones- owned

Disagree re SPP and Jones tonight. They gave it all and I think had a huge impact. They weren't the reason Port lost.

A tale told in four acts

i dont understand what their obsession with him is. i cant remember him having any links with port in the past? or was this another 'victim' of their faux pas aggressive thing where they target a player and it fails?

Scrolling through this page has me in stitches, the comments are gold.. at least Richmond have done something good for the Crows and beaten the swampies.

This is a good old choke from Port, first all year, chatting shit about opposition players and acting tough.. only to lose against Richmond at home. This year was a fluke from Port, scoring goals after the siren to also having a sweet draw due to COVID with less rounds.. plus not playing in Vic.. If they were going to win, it would've been this year with no GF at the MCG. They also had a fantastic run with injuries.

Their age profile is cooked, they'll be fried next year. 2 players with top end young talent and soon they'll have 5-6 average players being drafted with shitty picks trying to fill the gaps with seniors departing. They'll turn into the typical mediocre team. Great job from their recruitment team, don't disagree with getting high end talent, but spread the picks a little better and don't give up everything.

My prediction.. Port will only finish 2-3 spots above the Crows next year. Port will shit the bed next year and retire the brigade (Boak, Gray).. the Crows will overtake Port in 2022.

Imagine not making the gf in a compromised year where you were one of two teams in the finals that had a home ground advantage throughout the year.

Hoping to get some likes from the pear supporters who have liked some of my posts about how shit we are who frequent this board. Not confident though.

Difference being we made the Grand Final in a normal season so we were never "hyped" and started 2018 as one of the premiership contenders....Port Power had everything going for them this year with the teams they played at the right time and virtually no injuries all season in a short season and having to play the least number of games of short break and were still 4th favourite (they hyped themself).
Plus we’re at home most of the time whilst Geelong and Richmond have been constantly on the road. A major advantage.

Watching the last few minutes was a real head scratcher. Why keep hitting the boundary line when you're behind - to create repeat stoppages when you're getting killed in clearances 5 to 1? Played into their hands.

It was a great example of a side following their structures into the pits of hell, common sense be damned.

I love how people's hatred completely clouds their judgement to be able to make an unbiased opinion.

They were 'hyped up' because they finished top, much like we were in 2017.
Charlie wasn't great tonight, but it wasn't a night for key forwards. He didn't kick the second highest amount of goals for the year by accident. Yes he's overrated by many, but 'rubbish' is OTT.
Gray has had an ordinary year by his standards but is (maybe was) a superstar.
Jonas has had an awesome year and is a great leader, part of the reason for their success this year.

I bet you are more relieved that they didn't make the GF rather than gloating in the knowledge that you 'knew' they wouldn't
Oh **** off with your sanctimonious drivel.
