yep.. geelong kick straight in that first final and ports would've been odds on to go out in straight sets..

but dont bother talking sense to the bloke ABAB.. he’s far too busy taking the moral high ground over us all to listen to common sense..

going the entire season on top of the ladder and then not make the granny is a ******* epic choke..

And don’t ever forget that they were on a mission given it was their 150th year!

They had the advantage of playing games at home in front of their home crowd (like Brisbane and West Coast) and got off to a flier in the hub.

They were very focussed in this their 150th year and it has all come to nought. ****ing fantastic.

I've been saying this the entire year, the gaps massive.. not questioning their youngster's, they have done well in picking them.. but tbh they used up all their picks get 3 players and don't have much in the bank left. Most of those listed players will retire/not have much influence after the next few year's. It's kind of a go hard or go home strategy, if they don't pick up a Premiership in the next 1-2 years, they won't be close for years. I guess this is the problem when you don't do a full rebuild, path work at its best.

Yep, with Port having so much of their talent at the older end, their issue isn't their kids - some elite talent there - it's their mid tier and mid aged players. Not a whole lot there. The good draft picks they effectively wasted in the 2014-2017 period to get their "missing pieces" would be there now instead of Ryder (who left anyway), Motlop, Watts (who is retired now anyway) etc.

Shrewed trading/drafting to land Rozee, Butters and Duursma but it was the 5 years before that which will hurt.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer team.

The problem for Port is that talent wise they have a massive gap in the 24-28 age range and their main movers are on the wrong side of 30.

Next year
Gray 33
Boak 33
Rockliffe 31
Ebert 31 (retiring)
Hartlett 31
Dixon 31
Jonas 30
Motlop 30

This year was a now or never moment for them to win a flag. Those years where they kept trading away picks for Dixon, Ryder etc is about to catch up with them.

Left out Westhoff as well who has retired.

And in this years their first draft pick is 26 then 29 which once Academy and Compensation picks will be in the mid 30’s.

Port have one year left with this list if at all.

Their senior players have mostly had a good year, but as we’ve seen with ours the end can come very quickly. Next year their performances will drop off and they’ve already lost 2 this year.

Elite young talent but overall the side isn’t good enough to make up for the old players to dropping off.

Like us they blew their chance.

Has their been a bigger dud this finals series than Charlie Dixon?

They will still have 7 players, a third of their best team, who will be the wrong side of 30. They will need to manage them well next year.

Together with the loss of Westhoff, Ebert and Watts it is a massive change that will need to be well managed over the next year or two.

They might get another chance next year but in a severely compromised season like this year with the advantages it provided them, they blew it big time and they know it. This will sting and I can’t wait to see the reaction of it next year.

Pretenders again.
Hyped up all year long by rubbish Port sponsored media.
Fans guzzling the bath water.
King Charlie’s true ability shone through again. Is rubbish.
Gray the diving king giving lessons to Rozee
Captain is a sniping thug.
Have faked their way through yet another season. Pretenders.
List is overrated to the max.
Chest puffers personified.
Karma bitches. Karma.
A month or so ago I wrote “the higher they finish, the harder they’ll fall“... and so they have.

thanks to the dickheads in the media who “talked them up” for weeks and weeks. That karma is ever so sweet.

They won’t get up next year. They couldn’t be any more fitter and focused than their 150th. Next year they’ll revert to their mean, get a few injuries, have some disinterested players, and finish 9th.

Maybe the massive thud as they hit the ground having fallen from atop their pedestal will actually knock some sense into them, but I doubt it.

A quick summary of my thoughts
Rozee - elite if he can get rid of his flopping
Ebert- wanted it more than anyone, respect
Gray, Boak, Clurey- respect
Duursma- an arrogant *******, I hope lynch got in his face
Butters, SPP - frauds
Dixon- massive *******. Eat sh*t.
Jonas- sniper, uninspiring captain. One good tackle
Hartlett- chirpy figjam who's won nothing
Motlop - should be in the fraud category but you sort of need to show something in the first instance. What a joe the goose hack.
Ladhams, Lycett - underwhelming
Byrne Jones- owned
I agree with most comments here .......I'll have a slightly different perspective and hopefully objective opinion

Firstly commiserations to Port .....can't tell you how I feel about last nights result

Dancing_monkeys.gif

Rozee ......overrated IMHO ....flashy brilliance but will he put on enough muscle to play midfield or simply be a HFF

Duursma / Butters .....arrogance I love , star duo

Key Forwards ... from both sides not one looked a threat, Riewoldt looked slow and past it .....his days are gone
They did bring the ball to ground though

How did Richmond Win ?
Speed around the ball for Richmond .....Bolton, Edwards, Pickett, Prestia, Cochin and Rioli were too quick for their counterparts when the ball was brought to ground .....got a high % of first touches and when they didn't had the speed to swarm at the opposition and apply pressure

If you were a slow mid tonight your were struggling ....even Houli had problems being so one sided, he didn't have the time to come back onto his left foot

So glad we didn't get Burton ....I fear Luke Edwards is very similar to Burton, the extra pressure of a finals finding him out

Big tick to Sam Powell-Pepper ....and to think Port wanted to trade him

Port Future
Marshall & Georgiadis both young and future very good players

Sam Hayes to replace Lycett
William Drew to replace Rockcliff
Lachlan Jones to replace Boak

Gray 33 .....still has his speed but Bergman / Dylan Williams highly rated to replace

Ebert 31 (retiring), Hartlett 31, Motlop 30 .....easily replaceable

Dixon 31 & Jonas 30 at this stage look the hardest to replace .....Marshall & Georgiadis will be looked on to replace Dixon, but they are not the pack crashers Dixon is

I'm not so sure Port have had an easy draw this year. They have played plenty of away games, without looking at the records. And all teams that finish top have a good run with injuries.

Teams don't finish top by having a good draw. Teams finish top by playing consistent football over a long period, not by fluking it.
They played opposition teams that were coming off shorter breaks more than anyone else. The FIXTURE was far more skewed towards them than anyone else. Why the **** are you sticking up for them on the Crows board? Are you lost?

Only result I passionately care about is GEEL not winning the flag ......Dangerfield not winning a Premiership has been the only bit of enjoyment I've had since he left

GEEL would have beaten Port .....RICH will be too quick for GEEL

Because I'm sick of the same old arguments in the footy world.

If you lose, you choked, and you're salty, and you blame the umpires.

Why can't people take of their one eyed glasses and understand that it is possible to be beaten by a better team on the day?

Why when our team loses is it always because we played poorly, never because the opposition played better?

Surely you can see when there is a good player on an opposition team, even if you do hate them.

I guess I'm just over the Port v Crows arguments over EVERYTHING. Do people not realise there are 17 opposition teams and not just one?
I’m not sure big footy is the right place for you.

B. Crouch makes perfect sense for Port now. Rockliff is cooked, Boak reaching the end, SPP and Wines too similar.

Lots of money coming off the books and with no draft capital, expect them to go hard in free agency.

Pick up a few more missing pieces? They’ve got more missing pieces than pieces it seems. Every draft it’s the same. Port snare a missing piece or two. Media goes into warp speed predicting wonders. Port end up same ol’ same ol’ try hards with unwarranted arrogance, big heads and puffed chests.

After the way Port posters and supporters behaved after our 2017 GF, this is a beautiful result. The Karma is beautiful.

Delicious in fact.
