One thing you need to give Port credit for is talent ID , what they do after that is their problem.

We would have more talent at other sides than Port...

Tonight Lyons, Cameron & CEY...Greenwood, Dangerfield, Jenkins, Lever, Betts, McGovern, Keath, McKernan, Jacobs.

V Wingard, Burgoyne, Howard, Ryder, Polec, Pittard, Ah Chee, Gray,

They don't have the depth of young players to replace all 9 old guys and said old guys aren't getting better. 2 of their recent 5 or so high draft picks are already playing too.

Their squad could very quickly get cooked and turn to rebuild mode. They're right on the edge, and don't have a first rounder this year

But they’d be starting with a better base than us.
We’ve got 7 over 28 playing

Port are a couple years a head of us in their rebuild and they did it while their older guys still had a bit of good footy left in them.

The end will come quickly for a lot of them.

The unknown will be how good their younger players will look when it's all on their shoulders with younger players under them.

What we're seeing now is that when the person giving you the ball and/or the person your giving it to are both average it's very easy for everyone to look very poor.

When their 30 year olds drop off they could very well find themselves in a similar position.

The best part about Port's decline is that Ken is absolute lock to coach them in 2021.

They wont change a coach in year in which the Coronavirus tore the AFL apart.

They have some real serious young talent IMO, Willem Drew is way better than Powell-Pepper, Dylan Williams , Miles Bergman, Jackson Mead and Mitch Georgiades are really seriously talented kids as are Connor Rozee, Xavier Duursmaa and Zak Butters. A top notch young ruckman Sam Hayes waiting in the wings.

Georgiadis (spelling) looks good , they’ve got Mead, Schofield another father son next year who’s tracking well. They get rid of wines for a first, and can replace him with Drew who is another big body inside midfielder. Their list isn’t that bad.

Sure. But replacing nearly half their best 22 with these kids isn't going to keep them in a premiership window, even if many turn out to be quality. They'll have to drop back in the pack.

We're in that very process of replacing half our team (or more), most of whom were very old and past their peak (Jenkins, Betts, Jacobs, Douglas, etc.). We had lots of first round picks and promising kids to fill those holes (Fogarty, Jones, McHenry, McAsey, etc.). It's rare you can pull that move and remain at the top of the ladder

Those posters who continually mocked me when I said that Jarryd Lyons would develop into a good AFL midfielder, kindly drop your pants and do a lap of the pool table.

He could win a premiership medal this year.

I know that he will not win a Brownlow but he is a very handy third/fourth/fifth midfielder in the rotation. It felt like he won more clearances tonight than our entire midfield did last week.
