Another great SANFL player entered the Pearly Gates yesterday, Footscray/South Adelaide/SA champion David Darcy father of Bulldogs champion Luke Darcy passed away at 76. I reckon he represented both Victoria and SA at the Carnivals, generally at Centre Half Back/ Full Back?

If I recall right David was a well known Publican in SA after retiring from football including the Roxby Downs pub.

So one I have been thinking about today. Nicks’ contract ends in 2021 right? The same time Buckley’s does at the Pies. Assuming Collingwood dont win a GF in that time, he would have been there for more than a decade without success. Would he not be the perfect replacement coach? A guy who is uncompromising and would totally demand the highest standards?

I don't actually rate Buckley that highly.

Will this type of shit be posted anytime another young player shows glimpses in a game? I bloody hope Chayce is kept away from this noise otherwise his confidence would be taking a bigger hit than it already is. Again, he knows how to find the footy but is very low on confidence and can’t just go back and play a game of SANFL to regain it. If we want to fast track his development, he needs to play as often as he can this season, with maybe one rest. There is little to be gained from the scratch matches.

One of the reasons I think we should have kept him. To develop a bunch of skinny kids you need the brawn of guys like him taking the bumps.

I still wish we had him (along with Cameron and Danger). But can somewhat understand the club not giving him a contract till he is 32.
