Let's be frank, given Port's list profile and quality, you'd expect them to be up there. Hinkley has horrifically underachieved with them since 2014. He's getting the best out of them now but it took 6 years to do it.

Their core group of important and best players should have been contending for the premiership in their prime when they bought Ryder and Dixon in 2015 and 2016. Now they are trying to snag a premiership in the last ditch effort with these core group of players and it just happen to be an asterisk season this year and likely next year as well.

Port have demons and scars from multiple September fallouts with a lot of the players still there.

Correct. A totally compromised and farcical season, players in hubs, shortened quarters, randomness of fixtures and the Victorian Clubs losing their ability to budget for home finals, has made if far easier for Non-Vic teams to go deep into September.

If it was between the two of them, I would shoot myself. Then I would rather Paddy take a flag back to Moggs then one be erected in that sh*t hole in Alberton regardless of it being a glorified lightning cup .

In any case, there is three very very strong contenders no matter how Port envisage how they are sitting. Eagles, Lions and Tigers in Finals are a completely different situation then the lightning carnival rounds we are in. Lets not forget also, despite how good the Lions were in 2019, they went out in straight sets. Though they did push the Giants well in that prelim.

Port will have to beat most likely two of these teams to win a flag.

Daniel Talia made Alex Keath look good

Whether it is Tahlia or Hartigan or the system or structure, the intercept marking / spoiling set up is one part of the game that the Crows have done well for a while. Made Lever and Keath look like superstars (still good players though), and likewise made it easier for Doedee too. At least for Lever it seemed to me to be the Crows version of moneyball: make him look better than he was, and trade for top dollar.

Try telling stat watchers that his efficiency is lower because he kicks more than most inside mids and he also looks to hit up targets going forward directly from the stoppage.

Only those with football knowledge will be able to analysis the trade closely taking into account the strength of the draft in 2017 compared to 2018 but you can use those draft point to see what the actually trade end up being.......possibly being a 1st rounder and 3 rounder????

We didn't. We gave out one first rounder and did pick downgrades into a better draft. That first rounder that Carlton used on O'Brien got us Hamill and Worrell.
