Ok then. We increase the interchange to 6-8 but kick it old school and have a permanent interchange. That is, once you come off, you’re off for good... or allow each player a single interchange for injury assessment. I swear the game is so crappy because everyone is simply too fit and able to run all day and clog up space and this allows a super defensive strategy to be employed. If players can’t constantly take a few minutes break here and there, then they’re not running the distances they are able to at present. Plus, you might end up drafting actual footballers and not just athletes who can keep up with the fitness requirements of the modern game.

No, I laughed at you saying it was farcical and compromised, my point is they are all ‘compromised‘ in some way or other, so the value is no different to any other, especially in over 160 years of competition with different rules and leagues.

No this year is especially compromised, farcical and cannot be taken at all seriously.

No, but there have been other compromises and rules changes in every other season.
No two seasons have ever been the same in terms of rules, games played and when etc. etc.

You admitting to NO is why this season will always been seen as an asterisk season, don't listen to AFL media spin (I'm 100% certain there won't be any parade and as much excitement as a normal season), all supporter (well a major majority) will see it as such whether you win the premiership or finish bottom. Even the draft will be compromise as recruiters won't be able to see all the players entering their draft year which they usually do.....virtually unknown and uncertain season with an unprecedented situation effecting all players and teams differently will be seen as an asterisk season.

Depends on who your ruckman is and the conditions at the time. But yes very overrated in general.

But in reality they will also know that it’s a lightning carnival and nobody will acknowledge or respect it.

That's what make it's compromised, the teams that are forced to play in hub for 5-6 weeks and can't cope in this pandemic early in the season are immediately set back with 33% of the season gone and have to play catch up which make this the most compromise season ever.

Hitouts are the icing on a modern ruckmans game. Ideally you've basically got a 6th midfielder who covers the ground, tackles, wins clearences and provides a marking target/outlet from defence.

The fact that the AFL cannot even program the rest of the year speaks volumes of the laughable nature of the 2020 season, I mean its not beyond the realms of possibility that it never finishes?!

Possibly. I don't see a solid enough base or a good enough coaching box to see any immediate improvement.

The coaching box is like the players. When you draft talent coaches young assistant coaches follow. Your coaching box isn't settled. It's all part of the development process.

Each team has its own disadvantages and have to play each other only once. Everyone’s playing in the same unusual conditions so I see it that this year‘s flag will probably be won in the fairest conditions since Crows and Port joined.

Because I'm a die hard Port supporter something doesn't sit right with me. I'm wondering what you could do with Gold coast level recruiting and a core of experienced players to mold them
