the whole game was based on brutal hits. breaking bones, etc. but it was still a proper football game like madden, just with an emphasis on injuring players.

the players would be stupid to do this. 7 team playoffs, 17 games, 3 preseason. [even if pre season becomes no starters it hurts the start of the season, and teams still charge regular season prices for preseason tickets]

i dont understand. Unless the players get everything they want and more.

but who even knows what they players are asking for other than money. I had a guess in the Godell thread about a few things the players should ask for.

And if they lose to the 8-8 #7 seed they get ridiculed

the race for the 2 seed happens most seasons and will no longer be for a bye. if you stumble into the 2 a bit banged up against a team coming home fast and gets the 7 seed its a nightmare for the 2 seed.

The current playoff format is as good as it gets, not too many teams and not too many byes for top teams.
This would also push the Super Bowl back 2 weeks [because with 17 games they players MUST get a 2nd in season bye]

This year it would of been Rams @ Packers and Steelers @ Chiefs as the extra WC weekends.

The gap between 2 and 3 is gone without the bye. and the gap between 1 and everyone else is bigger.

It's just making way so they can eventually expand it to 18 games and 8 playoff teams per conference. smh

That would be a nightmare. 1-2 play for a championship birth [on the 2nd week, but then have 2 a WC Bye, Week 3 Bye, Pre Super Bowl bye], then 3-8, 4-7, 5-6. unless its current format but 5-8, 7-6 in play-in games for the Wild Cards. and all the Div winners have a bye. but then 1 or 2 still get extra byes and dont play much football in Jan

Its all about money. the players want extra money and the Owners are getting it back by forcing them to play a extra regular season game and selling 2 more playoff games to the networks.

May as well increase to 8 teams and use same finals system AFL. You have to reward No 2 team.
