NFL 2020 - Off-Season Player News & General Discussion

One bizarre Luke Kuechly fact -- he played eight seasons and made seven Pro Bowls. The only year he didn't make the Pro Bowl, 2012, when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The only player to make more all pro teams in their first year 8 years in the league than Kuechly's 7 is Lawerence Taylor with 8.

New Orleans police obtained an arrest warrant accusing Odell Beckham of simple battery in relation to a locker room interaction he had with a police officer Monday night.
The Browns' statement: "We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter. They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation." Beckham was caught on camera slapping a police officer on the back side during the midst of LSU's national championship celebration. OBJ is also under fire at the moment for appearing to hand out wads of cash to players following the game. Nobody was harmed in either instance, but dealing with the police and NCAA is never a great combination.

Handing money to a college player is not a good look for that college player is it? Burrow conforming it was real money doesn’t help.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus has "conditionally" terminated his relationship with free agent WR Antonio Brown.
Per Profootballtalk, Rosenhaus will "rescind the termination if Brown secures appropriate counseling within the next five days." That doesn't seem terribly likely. Brown continues to melt bridges and has all but forced himself out of the league.

Speaking Thursday, Kyler Murray did not shoot down the idea of one day resuming his baseball career.
Arizona Republic columnist Bob McManaman asked Murray if he would ever consider playing football and baseball in the same calendar year. "Athletically, I think yeah, I could do it," Murray said. "I’ve been playing both my whole life. I would love to add that to the résumé." Murray continued with expanded thoughts. "I don’t understand why in sports they try to marginalize it. They try to make you pick one and I get it, but we’ll see. I think it would be fun. Right now, though, I’m just focused on football." It's an eyebrow raising response from the former top-10 pick of the Oakland A's but there is zero indication this is something Murray is considering in the near future. The Cardinals are not allowed to expressly prohibit Murray from playing baseball, though doing so would void all future guarantees in his contract.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson reports Jason Witten could continue playing under OC Jason Garrett with the Giants.
Witten reportedly hasn't ruled out playing next year, which could lead to a reunion with Garrett in New York. The Giants apparently view the 37-year-old veteran as grizzled support in their young locker room and as someone who's obviously familiar with Garrett's offense. Having said that, Witten's future is still undecided and could trickle into offseason workouts before being officially resolved.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bengals have "no intention" of trading the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The rebuilding Bengals will assuredly use that selection on Ohio native Joe Burrow, who is coming off a sensational senior year that saw him win the Heisman Trophy while leading LSU to an undefeated season and its fourth National Championship. Burrow's father confirmed last week that his son "would be happy" to play for the Bengals if they drafted him first overall. There will be plenty of quarterback-needy teams picking near the top of April's draft—the Dolphins and Panthers are both seeking long-term solutions at that position—though it seems all but certain Burrow will be donning a Bengals uniform in 2020.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter report Philip Rivers has "permanently" moved his family from San Diego to Florida.
Rivers, who hails from Alabama, is moving cross country to be closer to his family. "What this means football-wise is to be determined but it was time for us to move back closer to home," Rivers said in a text message to ESPN Sunday morning. This could be a sign the long-time Charger is preparing to play elsewhere in 2020. The 38-year-old Rivers will soon join a loaded free-agent class that includes fellow quarterbacks Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Jameis Winston, Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Mariota and Teddy Bridgewater.

Are the Giants nuts? No way this happens

Are the Giants nuts? No way this happens

Only way it happens is if they trade Engram, which is a possibility. Whitten to provide some veteran support for their up and coming TE Kaden Smith.

Probably not as far fetched as it sounds.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there's "a lot of buzz" about Tampa Bay being a possible landing spot for Philip Rivers.
Rivers recently packed up his home in San Diego and moved cross country to Florida to be closer to his family (in Alabama). That doesn't necessarily make the Bucs his first choice, but the declining 38-year-old impending free agent will undoubtedly have fewer options than past years following his fewest touchdowns thrown (23) since 2007. Rivers isn't the worst one-year stopgap if Tampa Bay fails to iron out a deal with Jameis Winston. Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Mariota and Teddy Bridgewater will also likely crop up at some point as potential fill-ins under center.
