This year has been "interesting" for selection. But what has stood out is the players for coming in.

SANFL average AFL good - FOG and Gooch have both had ordinary form in SANFL but have come in and performed this year in the AFL team. How many others like McAdam, Butts, Scholl, Strachan could be half decent in the seniors.

Great SANFL but average AFL - some of our seniors and the likes of Wilson have dominated at SANFL but have looked average in the seniors.

For season 2020 the one hope is that we remove the SANFL form bias and start trying a few things. Do we need McAdam in the seniors, arguably yes. Do we need to expose Scholl, Butts, Mcpherson and Hamill, again arguably yes. Will some be beaten, yes, but could we find some gems, absolutely.

Can we do it with the current Football Department, sadly no I suspect

McHenry needs to get a gig and play 6-10 games (like Jones this year)
Jones needs to play 15 or so games in the MIDFIELD
Fog needs to play 20+ games
Sholl, Butts and Hamill to make their debuts
Milera to be given a role and not moved about to accommodate David ****ing Mackay
Not sure about Himmelberg. Needs a big pre-season (remembering he suffered a foot injury in Feb this year)
Stengle probably in the same boat as Himmelberg. He certainly has the skill level.

I don't hold out a great deal of hope that Gallucci, Davis, Murphy or McAdam will become anything more than fringe players. We seem to rate Murphy but his general skill level and decision making is appalling.

Himmelberg is only 21 and showed plenty considering he was coming off of that foot injury as you mentioned .
He makes a contest around the ground and his ruck work is already better than Josh Jenkins with more improvement to come .
Can see our forward line being focused around Fogarty , Himmelberg and Lukosius with 3 smaller types after Tex retires .
Very much like everything you put up ... after years of not knowing what we truly have with our youth 2020 is the time to find out .
We need to get currency now and trade out the majority of players who are not part of our next attack on a flag .
It is time to turn this list over in a major way , if we do not do it now we are ****ed for the 5 years minimum .
