Yeah I don't think he's a massive talent or anything but I do see enough that he could possibly be a best 22 player on merit maybe in a couple of years.
Does have a go and can be very composed when playing well.
Rather give a few of these types a real go and have a crack at building a kick arse team 4-5 years down the track than getting mature agers who are better right now but will be gone in 2 years.
Just my opinion. I don't care about making top 4 just because.
But I know many do and I get that too.

Sometimes l've wondered if he's not over coached just doing it as instructed.
Says to me they don't trust his ability, probably would have a better chance further up the ground where he can play his own game.
But l don't think they'll give him that opportunity, l think they've stamped him as a defender and that's that unfortunately.

He did have a good game in a final against Richmond a couple of years back. Just hasn't kicked on.
You can make stats look like anything , he has potential and his game is good despite your negativity towards him.
No you cant make stats look like anything. Its the one thing in these discussions that you cant alter.

With Zuthrie and players like him you need to consider the BATNA, what's the best alternative to a negotiated agreement i.e. contract extension?

We have averaged around 2 trade ins per year and we have 3 first round draft picks so 5 places to fill on the list. We already have 2 confirmed retirees. I think we can find 3 players to drop before him depending on how the year goes and so it becomes a question of valuing Zuthrie ahead of say pick 50+ in a bad draft. On that I think he gets extended a year and probably gets a run a few times middle of the season.
I see Zach as a light weight pick 33 rookie who's been given a try and looks long odds to make it at the Cats,no shame in that it's not the easiest side to break into,I hope however we cut him loose if there's not significant improvement this season as we don't need to carry list cloggers. We picked up Miers with pick 57 and Sav with 43.

If Zach a list clogger what does that make Cocky?

Does anyone remember Zuthrie being thrown forward in a VFL final? (Hawks maybe?)
Was allright.

2018 right? We had a nqr Sav back from injury as the focal point and when the attack wasn't delivering Zach really stepped up. It was pretty cool to see imo.

Damn... Not sure he was necessarily in line for senior selection this year, but this news is s**t:

Geelong Category B Rookie Stefan Okunbor suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon at training on Wednesday.

After consultation with a specialist, the 21-year-old Irishman will have the injury surgically repaired on Sunday.

The former Gaelic footballer joined the Cats at the end of 2018 and played eight VFL games in 2019.

The club will work closely with Okunbor on his rehabilitation plan over the coming weeks.

Faaarrrkkk. He has a tonne of potential. Most likely out for the year now.

Our pre-season injuries starting to mount up. Hopefully getting them out of the way now so we have a good run during the season.

That sets Freddie back no Escort cup games so will not play AFL in rd1
Better not tell him that as he apparently will be available for round 1:

Krueger, 20, went under the knife in December but has steadily ramped up his training and appears in no risk of being unavailable for Round 1.

That brighter side saw Kruger spend more time working on conditioning in the gym before he was cleared for running.

The swingman – who didn’t make his AFL debut in his first season with the Cats – has since progressed to running and is due to return to full training in coming weeks.

There's nothing to say he won't play any pre-season games - if he's maintained his conditioning he may not be set that far back, and could be available for our second match on March 9 which is still over 6 weeks away and gives him a potential full month of training.

And there's generally VFL practice game/s that are also before the start of the season and he could get permission to play those

I would like to see us give him at least half a game of that second preseason game would prefer first since ill be able to see it live.

After no apparent injuries at the end of the year

Duncan has done nothing
Kolo has done nothing
Selwood has done nothing
Stewart has done nothing
Freddie is missing 6-8 weeks
Stef is done for the year
Clark is still running around with a no contact hat

Starting to add up alright!

Not ideal yes. From what I have seen Dunc, Kolo have not been sighted outside rehab. Selwood has been running under the eyes of the physios. Stewart ditto.

[I havent seen any hard running sessions (maybe they do them back at KP even when the drop in, is in place?]]

Freddie has done 5 of those weeks if the injury occurred pre -Xmas , but that hurts.

Clark does train in a cap - always. I dont know if it has special markings - it is grey like the other caps. He has been fully involved but they might have a no tackle warning out. Should be fine aerobically.

Okunbor is a real shame. When he trained he looked really good (compared to year 1). I was beginning to think he was a real chance to debut this year.

Depth will count if this keeps up. Very happy Hendo is on the list - he is training well. Kreuger may have missed his chance to win a place round 1 but Jenkins is doing all the preseason. Duncan, Selwood both missing round 1, Kelly gone (and Parfitt not doing much at least when I was watching) would really stretch the mid depth. Steven looks really good but the door is wide open for two of Narkle , Constable, Parsons, CS and should I raise it?......... Cockatoo is still training with the main group. Fog looks a way off for mine.

No panic yet, but would love to see Dunc and Stewart back in full training soon.
