I think Jaidyn ran a 21.3 yoyo at the combine and Sam hadn't ever done a preseason with a football club, or perhaps just the one.

Plenty of scope to raise his output athletically
No preseason - except for cricket. Didn’t start the year with the U18 team - came through well after the season started.

Wowee that kick and decision making of Young is phenomenal. There was a ball movement drill today working in tight confines. Young kicks a laser 20m no higher than chest height and hits the man on the chest. He then runs past at full tilt for the 1:2 collects and delivers another laser and again hits the man on the chest. There were other times he was able to hit a man running on the chest over the top of play from 40 without the player breaking stride.

MCCarthy also stood out with his kicking in the drill. A little slower on the decision making than young but never misses and always takes the right option.

Sturt will debut early. His kicks also looked sublime in the drill. Both he and Young add some real class to the side.

And before I forget Hill was playing with the yellow shirts. They got themselves into trouble with a poor kick. Hill took a quick give the neatly popped it on the boot to find a man running 40m away which opened up the ground for yellow. It took me a minute to realise who it was and then remembered ahhhh yes that’s Hill the silkiest kick (before young arrived) in the team. Damn I miss him in full flight

Are they doing drills or longer match sims at the moment?

Was McCarthy moving with more agility? Is he looking stronger? His kicking has always been awesome.

Fredericks is like the best of Langdon - hard at it, fast, good endurance but he's actually a really natural kick too.
His decision making and footy smarts remain to be seen at the highest level but damn he looked good in that Colts GF.
Exciting times.
I can see why we swapped picks to get in front of Port in that part of the draft

Fredericks sounds better.

I’m just going to call him Monaro...

Start the car!

Not to rain too heavily on everyone’s parade here, but I watched Freddy pretty closely on Wednesday and while he showed a lot of endeavour, he did fumble quite a bit and got caught a few times. So, temper those expectations everybody.

It's interesting to read, whilst the reports are good to read, I personally take everything with a grain of salt. 2 years ago this board was frothing over Crowden in the pre season. Needless to say he's been quite dissapointing.

Last year was Bewley, who besides 1 good game, was meh.

Hope Fredrick gets some pre season games, as he fills a big need for the team.

went to my second friday training session yesterday. stephen hill looking immaculate, cox and young both impressed me. curious to hear what others think of valente, see no reason for him not to get a game this year.
From memory, that’s the first mention in this thread of Cox being impressive. Would you mind elaborating? What specifically impressed you?

This is the part of the year with unbridled expectation. Taking away the enthusiasm is like taking away a babies rattler.

Still think Minairo Frederick, sounds like Monaro Frederick.

Not sure why it’s now Michael I guess that’s the Australianised version!.

Hello purple people.

Excuse the intrusion, but can I just say how jealous I am that you drafted Young.

He was the one I was praying would last to Carlton's pick before we traded down.

Players with Young's exceptional kicking skills are often soft, outside types. But Young has that, is a great size and is a real competitor.

He's a very good intercept mark, he'll kill contests. He reads the ball well and is competitive. Will fight for the mark, spoil and will chase and tackle. You know... An actual defender.

And then when he gets the ball he makes great decisions and can pull off ridiculous kicks.

If that isn't enough, he's got speed, agility and endurance.

I'm no draft expert and there's always hits and misses. But I'm pretty confident you've got a serious player for many years. All the best to him.
