Play Nice 2020 Pre-Season Training

Gunston or Sturt?

Gunston is a massive entitled sook - can play though.
Sturt. Can't find video, since it looks like the journo who posted it deleted the Tweet at some stage, but it's referenced here:

Love to know who is winning the ruck battle. I'm a big Meek fan.

Hill getting massive raps. Goddamn, please let us just calm down. Hill to be fit for next week? Boy, wow wee.

And Hogan impressive too. Would not want to be JLo and team selectors next week.
Wilson also played well. Lots to debate.

Could see 5-6 players coming in off the injury list
Wilson, Mundy, Hill, Hogan, Acres, Valente, Matera, all best 22.

It's definitely encouraging to read that the younger guys seem to be progressing well, the likes of Cerra, Brayshaw, Sturt and Valente then adding that the new draftees in Serong and Young seem to be having a more immediate impact. In the past we have read how dominant Fyfe, Mundy and Walters have been so it is nice to read that we seem to be building a lot more depth now, in particular in the midfield.

If we can somehow get our hands on Zane Trew in this years draft, i have seen him play a few times and he looks to be a special player, I think our midfield will be set for years to come.

Just days out from Fremantle’s departure for the Gold Coast, players suited up for a scratch match at Cockburn. Here’s what Jordan McArdle saw.

Purple power
The star-studded purple team dominated the scratch match against a far less experienced white outfit.

The majority of Fremantle’s best available 22, including dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe and All-Australian Michael Walters, featured.

Fyfe was prominent as usual and Reece Conca also found plenty of it.

Freo look to have picked up a beauty in Hayden Young — and the kid can take a speccy.

Jesse Hogan moved well as he put his hand up for a long-awaited return from a foot injury and mental health break.

During the session open to media, the star forward played the entire time and took a couple of nice marks on the lead.

The white team featured David Mundy (leg), Blake Acres (hamstring) and Stephen Hill (quad), who all missed round one through injury, to start as well as plenty of uncapped youngsters.

A few players switched sides after half-time but it made little difference to the score.

The athletic defender was one of the stand-outs for the white team across half-back.

Young showed off his left-foot cannon several times and took a stunning pack mark early in the second half.

The top-10 draft pick had an interrupted pre-season and was managed due to some minor upper-leg issues.

Taylin Duman, Blake Acres and Connor Blakely were also among the white team’s best.

Son Son shines
Michael Walters looks primed to back up his maiden All-Australian campaign with another big season.

The Dockers superstar starred in the purple team midfield, finding a heap of the footy and providing first-class delivery up the ground.

Missing in action
Several key players didn’t feature in the hit-out as they work their way back from various injuries.

Joel Hamling, Alex Pearce (both ankle), Matt Taberner (back), Sam Switkowski (back), Stefan Giro (knee), Cam McCarthy (dizziness) and Liam Henry were among those missing.

Sturt pushes his case
Sam Sturt (lower back) played for three quarters, before kicking a goal early after he switched teams.

He moved well up forward in a promising sign for his round two hopes before finishing the match jogging laps around the boundary with Taberner and Giro.

The classy left-footer impressed on debut in round one against Essendon, earning a rising star nomination.

I'm guessing whoever wrote the subheading "purple power" was very glad it wasn't the purple team that got belted.

Following on from the success of our recent trade periods discussion, I reckon Reece Conca has been an astute pick-up. His ball use makes me feel sick (that turnover with 15 seconds to go in the third quarter against the Eagles last season), but for what we got him for he has performed very well in my opinion. Good bloke and leader too.

Two things.

The “worst”wrote a positive article about the Dockers.

The article gives a warm feeling in the underpants.
