Preview 2020 Qualifying Final 1 - Port Adelaide vs Geelong @ AO

We have been building nicely over the last 5 weeks and appear primed to give the finals a red hot shake. I know we have had difficulty against geelong of late, but if you're going to win the flag you have to prove you can beat anyone. On our day we are good enough, now it's time to prove it.

I feel like we are going to hit this game with some extreme next level heat. Players are either in good form, or building really nicely. This is the best we have looked all year.

Lycett, Boak, Rocky, Gray, Wines, SPP, Amon are in some really nice form.

Our back 7 have been really, really solid. With Clurey and Burton back in - those who clang, will not make the cut. Burton will be the most green of all our players, but is really powerful and reliable.

Charlie is just Charlie.

Ebert, Marshall, Motlop, Ladhams, Rozee, Duursma are all improving their game each week, coming back from injuries/Suspensions, or being dropped etc.

Of this group Rozee is really about to explode.

And Butters our AA squad best small forward is back!!

The team is looking the best it has all year. It’s on.

Its going to be a scalpers paradise, just wait and see.
They need to maximise attendance by allowing people who book in groups to sit next to each other while leaving spaces between themselves and those in other groups. We haven't had a case of community transmission in months, although opening the NSW border does pose an unnecessary risk unfortunately.
The Hill also needs to open to crowds. Other venues in NSW and QLD have had crowds on their 'hills', so there's no reason why they can't at AO.

Assuming nothing changes on restrictions, one option to limit scalping would be to not allow ticket purchases from Victorian IP addresses. Wouldn’t stop all purchases that are for scalping attempts, but would prevent the casual scalp attempt.

Go Port

Geelong’s game style leaves them vulnerable after their opponents have long breaks because this gives them the freshness/energy to apply manic pressure, and the Cats cave under relentless pressure, as shown by their game against Richmond a couple of weeks ago and their performances in previous finals series. This is also why they struggle after byes.

We don’t match up that great against them but this is the main evidence that gives me hope of finally getting the monkey off our backs.

The 10k crowd vs Richmond was electric. If we have that energy for a 25k crowd, I reckon the players will feed off it massively. The players pressure stats in that game were off the charts. We need a repeat of that, especially from the midfield.

There wont be any left after the members have purchased anyway.

The coaches will have to steel these players up and get them believing that they can run through brick walls. If they have the right tactics in place and the team as a whole rises to the occasion they can win this.
Port have only run riot on very few occasions this year and i would love to see them break this game open and demoralise this Geelong side.

The "elephant" is how we have performed under expectation in front of our home crowd over the last 5 or so years. If we crack this game we win the flag.

We had massive expectations before the 2014 EF, especially pumped up by the PB last minute decision. The boys delivered that day. Just gotta do the same this tme.

Our last 5 matches of 2014 were 2 wins and 3 losses. This year its 5 wins.

Isn’t it a bit weird plotting ticket sales evenly between teams when one team has earned the right of home final? The whole point of home ground advantage is the massive lop sided crowd swaying umpires.

How many geelong supporters do you think will come over from vic and pay to quarantine for 14 days? Some will come from outside victoria but not thousands. We'll have an advantage.

The tickets aren't evenly split, they are given equal opportunity within the 2 different purchase windows.
