Our performances this year mean we weren’t first preference.
Perception is everything and we’re a team at rock bottom and Carlton is on the up. Getting Williams made Carlton more lucrative for Saad.

If we concentrate on building the most exciting young squad in the league then that will change. Our window now is more about talented young players who can't get playing time at their current team. In a year or two, we should be in a position where top players will look at us and say we are on the way up rapidly and therefore be open to playing with us.

I’m sure we’ll help them with the Saad negotiations, there won’t be a threat of walking him to the preseason draft.
Well most * supporters are happy for him to walk to us if the Blues don't come to the party. *Popcorn out*

Ess would now go the full rebuild, they aren't offering anything decent for Brown. I'd be surprised if they don't have one eye on a Horne focussed raid at the 2021 draft.

Creepy Joe nominating Brisbane is great for Brown's trade value. Ignore the absolutely laughable ignorance of pretty much everyone other than North fans on this. Facts are facts. BB was drafted 1 year later than JD, is only 1 year older, and on virtually every measure that counts is equal or better than JD. Durable, proven, elite. Brady and all other clubs know this, so rest assured we won't be settling for a 2nd round pick or a 1st round pick with heavy sweeteners elsewhere. With Joe wanting out even the Dodo will play nicely if he wants in on BB.

I wonder what the likes of Dylan "Shields" Shiel, Devon Smith, Jake "Short Arms" Stringer, Hooker, Hurley, Merrett etc would think of their premiership aspirations being put on hold for 5 years?

This is a legitimate question - are there people out there who actually rate this guy's opinions so much that they'd go to the effort ask him something footy related? Surely, at least 99.99% questions would be along the lines of that so eloquently put by Tas above?

The team who ditches players they don't require, or the team whose required players walk out on them. I know who I'd be more concerned about Lloydy
He's valiantly trying to divert attention away from his nose diving Bombers by putting the slipper into us, I expect the Croc's to ramp up their assault on us given the most recent news out of Essendon Fields.

Btw, have never forgiven his assault of a defenseless Shannon Watt.

The AFL trade period is just around the corner and is now a key focus for the 12 teams out of finals contention.
We asked two Fox Footy expert commentators in St Kilda champion Leigh Montagna and Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall for their takes on five of the hottest trade topics.

WHICH CLUB MOST NEEDS NORTH MELBOURNE KEY FORWARD BEN BROWN?

Leigh Montagna:
Melbourne. With the list they’ve got, they should be pushing for a top-four, top-six spot next year. They’re really settled down back, I like their midfield, but I think they’re just missing another key forward to help our Sam Weideman and Luke Jackson. So, I think Ben Brown would be a good fit.

Jason Dunstall: There’s a few options. Melbourne definitely need forwards. They’ve got to get Sam Weideman some help up there. I think the Bulldogs are an option. Even, as funny as it sounds, West Coast might be an option given the age of Josh Kennedy. Given that he’s 33 years old now, it might just be a little bit of insurance for West Coast.

HAS JARED POLEC GOT A FUTURE AT A FOURTH AFL CLUB?

LM:
I think he does, but only just. He’s certainly on his last life and he has to be accepting of how long his AFL career goes for. I think a fourth club will take him, but it would be a tenuous sort of situation I would have thought.

JD: I think he probably does. He’s only 28 years old. I suspect he would fit in best at a team that’s competing in the finals that needs outside run and ball use. I think the Richmond game style would suit him and I could also see Geelong and West Coast fitting him into the mix. You’ve got a guy that runs hard and uses the ball pretty well. Maybe he’s not going to win enough of his own ball for a lot of people’s liking, but those sort of players exist in every team. The good teams have them and they use them to the best possible benefit.

I don't want to nit pick, but you have posted their totals and BBB has obviously played more games.

It's a fairly irrelevant comparison, post their averages.

Boomer would kick Gary Ablett Jnr's ass in a likewise comparison.
