Okay, who's up for trade?

I would be talking to Jack Billings. Will be getting no midfield time now.

It’s understood the Saints have offered Crouch a long-term deal that includes triggers to extend the contract to as long as five seasons.

Where that pick would land, though, depends on how the league views the size of Crouch’s St Kilda contract.

Considering the terms of the long-term deal, which is understood to be around $700,000 per season, the Crows could be compensated with a draft pick that lands immediately after its natural first-round selection — which would be Pick 2.

If it has triggers to get to 5 years then it won't be a band 1. They only count guaranteed money.

Hopefully it does have triggers.

The Crows will now eagerly await the contract terms that St Kilda offer for the player who was their best and fairest last year. A sizeable contract could draw a first-round compensation pick for Crouch, which would presently give them the first two picks in the draft.

Typically a contract has needed to be in the range of at least a three-year and $800,000-a-year deal, or more, in order to command a first-round compensation pick.

Bullshit saints are offering $700k x 5.

They've got to manage retaining Gresham, King, Coffield, Clark etc plus spent up on Howard, Hanneberry, Hill et al.

Can't see them going big overs for Crouch long term on top of that.

He has been playing on the wing.... so crouch acq wouldn't affect him

AFL headquarters has looked at Aints mounting debt and thought "yeah, no salary cap for them"

They also had a look at Adelaide and thought "yeah, franchise team, got to prop them up like we did to Sydney for over 10 years. Give them pick 2"

Mind boggling how teams like Collingwood, Richmond, and now Saints always seem to be able to get more in.

Collingwood was "how can we fit Grundy in?" - no worries we got him in...plus Moore and Daicos on increased terms. No worries Eddie.

At least when Swans got Buddy in with Tippett, JK, Hannebry, Heeny etc. they had the COLA narrative to go with.

Seems St Kilda is the new team that had an ‘advised’ salary cap.

Why?

They've been in a similar position to us with a war chest for years. They had massive $ for Kelly.

They've more than likely banked the extra 5% so they can pay overs and then front load the s**t out of the recruits from last year.

I wouldn't think there would be too many sooking if we were in their position.

Didn't Hill take a big chunk of the Kelly $?

They also lost the sausage lover to GWS out of it.

As for Collingwood - still waiting for them to ever lose a wanted player to a better $$ deal <skeleton.gif>.

Looks like it's happening now.

The Treloar drums are beating and they're struggling to offer Mihochek a deal that suits him. Phillips is out the door.
