Dumont will move back to his defensive wing position I would assume.

dumont should be traded unless he presents as someone who has elite training standards and gets his skin folds down

hes slow and offers poor defensive spread from stpgs - he’s unfit and thank god we got Blakey back because he will sort out our cultural standards that our leaders and Previous coaches have failed to implement

I remain completely baffled by our strategy around BBB. Our bargaining power is now completely compromised given that suitors know that we're happy for him to move on. How can that be remotely advantageous to the Club?

Do you think Dow will make it long term?
I don't know. I do know he has elite traits and does his best work at the coal-face. Part of his inconsistency at Carlton may be due to the difficulty of playing that contested, big-bodied role (a) next to Cripps, (b) without the core strength, and (c) without the tank to complement it. I think he has potential and is worth a shot. And his granddad was a Shinboner.

I adore how Robbo says Essendon will probably tell their side of the story tomorrow, then 30 seconds later mentions the Tom Morris article where Saad is slammed for wanting to be a dashing HBFer who doesn't defend...
Oh man. The comments * made to Tom Morris and that Robbo just ran with have pretty slammed the door shut on any possibility of him staying. Death knell.

Snake_Baker I can see what you mean now by a deal already been done.
* wouldn’t be leaking these little pot shots to the media if they didn’t believe they’d be compensated. Pick 7 should get it done.

Chicken Nixon says:
- North into JSOS
- North into Shaun McKernan
- Brown linked to Lions & Pies
- Higgins linked to Geelong
-Carlton people are saying JSOS has interest from us and Hawks. Someone mentioned it on here last week too. Seems like a smoke/fire scenario.
-McKernan would be highly unusual considering our delistings this far, unless he's younger than I think. (Edit: he's 30. Why wouldn't we just keep Maj?)
-Brown and Higgins, well they are the teams that have been mentioned as potential homes for those 2 since the start so no great insight there.

Agree he looks unfit and is slow but i thought he was one of our elite runners.

He's slow (though not Cunners slow), but he's far from unfit. Has done a mountain of work to change his body shape and athletic profile over the years, and even though he's only one paced he still busts an ass chasing opponents.

I’d like to know how many players from other clubs over the last 5 years Carlton have procured ... still on their list or not it must be at least 30 ?!?

Every player with at least one prior game elsewhere to play their first game at Carlton from 2016-present: Sam Kerridge, Jed Lamb, Andrew Phillips, Matthew Wright, Lachie Plowman, Liam Sumner, Daniel Gorringe, Caleb Marchbank, Billie Smedts, Rhys Palmer, Alex Silvagni, Jarrod Garlett, Matthew Kennedy, Aaron Mullett, Cam O'Shea, Darcy Lang, Matt Shaw, Matthew Lobbe, Alex Fasolo, Mitch McGovern, Nic Newman, Will Setterfield, Hugh Goddard, Josh Deluca, Jack Martin, Jack Newnes, Marc Pittonet, Callum Moore.

So that's 28 without counting anyone like Tom Bugg (no Blues games) or Jarrod Pickett (no GWS games). For comparison, by the same metric we've had 12 during that period (Jed Anderson, Farren Ray, Nathan Hrovat, Marley Williams, Billy Hartung, Aaron Hall, Jasper Pittard, Jared Polec, Dom Tyson, Tom Campbell, Josh Walker, Aiden Bonar), and that doesn't count guys like Alex Morgan or Paul Ahern who didn't debut for their original clubs.

It doesn’t always play out how we want it to. I think if we had it our way, it would all definitely have been kept under wraps.
Brown and his management were clearly disgruntled and we felt it was best to get on the front foot before his management could.

This gets thrown around so much around here yet no one has actually given an alternative as to how it could have been handled differently?

The facts that we know are: North wanted to re-sign Brown at the start of the year. North decided after a change in direction that it was probably better to trade Brown. Brown and his management asked for the original deal to be re-tabled, North declined. Browns manager went to the media and said that North don’t see him in their future plans and think it’s best if he’s traded and various other comments that painted a negative situation. North release article saying it’s being explored for mutually beneficial agreement.

Please enlighten me, should North have:

- Lied to the media that Brown is required and then trade him?
- Been silent to the media and let Rama continue to run his mouth causing supporter hysteria to fester?
- Come out dodo style with some w***** threat that he isn’t a free agent & demand we are compensated?
- Kidnapped Rama to prevent him from speaking to the media?

I don’t see what other option we had once Rama went to the media, unless you’d expect us to lie to Ben until Trade period that an offer was coming...

What someone should have put to Lloyd is which of the cut players would say Essendon or any other club pick up and play in their best 22?

<crickets>

So if they aren't good enough for anyone else's list, why is it going to be such a tragedy if they are not on our list?

If we do not plan to play them in 2021 and beyond then what is the point of them being on our list?

And that is exactly the point, we do not want recycled hacks coming to the club any longer.

What number did they say, 14? Two of them are rookies so lets call it 12 as those spots wont exist. We have 40 senior player, it is probably going to drop to 38 so we are down to 10. Zurhaar must be elevated, that is 9. Hayden might get elevated, that is 8. That just leaves McGuinness who is a Cat B rookie, all our Cat A rookies will be gone so whatever number the AFL allows can be filled, it wont impact the senior player numbers though. We are picking up Corr as a free agent, so that is 7. It seems Polec isn't going so that could be 6, if he goes or stays it wont really matter as he will be in the same group as Brown and Higgins in that if they go we will get something of value for them.

So we now have 6 senior spots to fill, we have picks 2, 9 & 25 plus something of value for Higgins and Brown should they leave. Brown should be equivalent to a first round pick, Higgins a second... or thereabouts.

So all bar one of the vacancies is filled by something of value. I have a sneaking suspicion that we might try and get Wright to give the forward line a bit more maturity and a seasoned body. Fine, call him recycled, I don't think GC will ask a lot for him, might be as cheap as a future 3rd pick.

So we move on 14 or whatever players and all the spots are filled with something of value and only 1 recycled guy from that group. How is that a disaster? It doesn't matter which senior player they name as might be going, they aren't talking about an Atley with zero value, any player that they talk about is someone of value that will be replaced with something of value. The critical element is how much maturity exists in the best 22 and out best team is still about 2 years older on average than GC. We have retained the best of our mature players whilst also providing more opportunity for our younger high quality players to evolve, like GC had this year, like Saints have had recently, etc.

We are a long way off being a concern imo.

This is what I come to bigfooty for.
