"Elite ball users who rack up possessions" won't be subject to a change of role due to the return of a good, solid player like Liberatore. Dunkley is a decent player, but not the type that should be attracting a big money bid.
If you're no longer getting played in the same position where lots of touches are available then how do you expect him to keep his possession numbers?
He had a pretty good 2019.

I think Cameron is overrated, I can just see why there is a perceived difference in value.

I do too. For all the mocking, I would take Hawkins over Cameron 10 out of 10 times. There is a perceived difference in value because of the media narrative, that's what my point is. I agree that teams won't base their valuations on what Jon f***ing Ralph thinks, but what happens if Melbourne won't pay a fair price, and the media narrative gets out that "North have been offered a late second, that's a fair price, they need to stop being dicks about it"? Like it or not, the media narrative plays a role in how some of this stuff unfolds, and it would be easy for the AFL to come in as mediators and tell North to be more reasonable, everyone agrees he's only worth a late second.

Who has said that though?

The media has correctly pointed out that clubs are likely not going to offer us a first rounder for Brown. That's not nasty reporting, that's likely to be fact.

Ok mate, you can talk down North players as much as you like. Regardless of what Brown is worth today, I think the media has completely undervalued his performances of the past 5 years while making excuses for other non-performing players (Daniher has barely gotten on the park for 3 years but he's clearly a star worth a top 5 pick). We can agree to disagree.

Pretty good is not elite. If he was elite he wouldn't have been shunted aside. Any sensible team wouldn't be throwing big money at a pretty good player.

To be fair we haven't helped ourselves by spending the whole year actively devaluing him.

Yeah I tend to think the Dogs would be laughing if they end up with pick 7 for him, although it is complicated somewhat with the JUH bid.

His 2019 could probably be rated elite. Had over 30 possessions in half of his games, and polled 15 Brownlow votes.

Sentence from a previous written article...

"The Cats won’t want Cameron falling into the pre-season draft as Essendon and Sydney Swans, in theory, could both entertain taking him for nothing"
.

l thought this sentence was interesting regarding Geelong and Cameron. l'm quite sure that North might have a say in it also if Brown goes...and a few other clubs before their picks...

So in other words we are linked to everyone and all our delisted players are linked to everyone else.

A visual representation of a Ricky Nixon's trade rumour tweet.

It's 2nd only to Rooboys Rool posts for fictitious complexity.

Gallagher didn’t want to be drawn into the specifics over the length and financial figure for Crouch, but confirmed Shaun McKernan was a player of interest for the Saints.

“It is more one that we were so impressed in Kingy in basically his first year of AFL. We see a big future for Max and we love having him at our footy club,” he said.

“But I reckon we are a little bit exposed if we get the wrong injury in the wrong spot, that’s not just Max. Our team worked well when we had the two tall forwards and Membrey.

“We don’t want to be compromised with our structure if we get the wrong injury in the wrong position.

“It’s not an area of the ground that we will throw a lot of assets and money at. We think we’ve got our number one forward, but we just need some more support if we get the wrong injury in the wrong position.

“He (McKernan) is one of a few. He has finished up at Essendon. There’s a few marking forward types who are out of contract or finishing up at their current clubs and we have made number of calls to their management, but he‘s one.

As for Ben Brown, Gallagher said “I’m not going to rule anyone in or out, it’s early days. We’ve got a guy in Max King that we think is going to be our No.1 key forward and we will make sure that is the case and he gets the support and development that we hope he becomes.”
