If I was a pies supporter I would be absolutely filthy

The administrative incompetence at their club has been staggering.

For the Royal Flush, we stick a $750k contract in front of De Goey and walk him to the PSD.....

Still un-signed.

It's interesting to note that its basically certain all the leaks to media about our requests are coming from the clubs we're dealing with and not us

I think the only thing we've said publicly is that clubs have approached us about 2??

And even that could have been a clever piece of salesmanship.

Demand, perceived or otherwise, will drive price up.

No interest in Stephenson from other clubs except us. If Collingwood want to have some salary cap room then they will need to take what they can get for him. We dont need him but would like him....Theres a difference. Time for Brady and Co to play hard ball and only offer a future 3rd round for him. With 2 days to go now is the time for North to make some moves and see what happens.....

Still have to add another 7+ guys to the team if stevo somehow gets to North.
I wouldnt be so hasty to get the dogs pick 14 if its going to cost us multiple 2nd rounders

Dunno. 13 off 11 on if we run with the mooted changes.

We've already got Corr and Young. Add Stephenson for arguments sake. 4 picks in the ND, 2 in the RD. Keep a spot or 2 open for a PSD pick or maybe another DFA.

The shift is almost the polar opposite to what we'd grown accustomed to.

We control the story, we control our information and we protect it.

I very much doubt we'll see player managers using us for negotiation by media now.

I get the distinct feeling you put Brady in the Martin/Kelly/Gaff discussions and as soon as the managers ran to the media we'd pull the deal immediately.

They don’t have the space and we have pre-draft links with him.

Brady has been sitting on extra cap space watching this Pie situation with glee. If he pulls this trade off, sign him up to a 10 year contract now.

I think it's likely we add one or two DFA's.

There still going to be more delistings, including us.

Walker, EVW etc are being held over until the final list sizes are confirmed.

Time? Jesus, he's just boned a club favourite, not budging with another, cut 11 miscreants and won't buckle to Geelong or Melbourne. Any more harder and he'll be Genghis Khan.

Sorry that's plain incorrect.

Whilst Stephenson has won the RS, I think most can see he probably doesn't project as a potential quality AFL midfielder like he did in the u/18's.

He might still develop into a decent wingman, but he was taken at #5 because of his work on the wing, high disposal numbers, kicking goals from midfield. Not as a permanent forward prospect.

Hollands has a far higher ceiling than Stephenson, even as a forward. Physically he's just in a completely different category. He's a 6"3 powerhouse that could potentially play FF like Dangerfield, Martin, Rayner and De Goey do at times. The only bloke with anything close to the same natural skill level in that group is Dustin Martin. I hope that puts it into perspective.

He's taller and heavier than Jack Ziebell is atm and he's only 18.

Nick Larkey doesn't have more potential than JUH just because he's played AFL football.
That’s your favourite word ol’ boy, you’re always looking for the diamond in the rough, and I gotta admit you suck me in sometimes too with the ‘shiny new toy talk’.

Im a ‘proven’ man personally, so ill go back to my original point, Jaiyden’s proven himself already at the level so if we pay a pick in 20’s im not going to burn bigfooty to the ground..

Totally backing in and loving our approach this year!

Stephenson - out of the blue! (and and awesome move) - media was a bit late sniffing this out
Brown - Melbourne happy to offload 31 and 33 for Brown (I bet they are. what a bargain) - Media has no clue how North has responded (or is looking to respond)
Higgins - NO. Geelong are taking the piss. What do we hear from our club - NO!
Lachie Young comes in for nothing (smart move)

Cards close to chest is paying off in spades. Media clowns have zero to go on but speculation. And they would speculate even if they had actual facts. WIN

Get Stephenson to North. Will Brodie now. 11th hour trade for peanuts that no-one will see coming. Fingers crossed.

GO YOU ROOBOYS. I'M UP AND ABOUT TODAY!

You are a ruthless one, Pykie.

We're just helping out Collingwood's TPP problems....

If Collingwood lose Treloar, De Goey and Stephenson in one off season. Oh boy.

Future 3rd for Stephenson hopefully! Maybe upgrade another pick for Nick Diacos points
We obviously need to fill list spots now without hindering our draft hand so you’d think it has to be a future. And around pick 40 would be bang on I think, and if we pick up 2/3’s ($400k), that works for me 👌

And enough of the Beams stuff. I was of the understanding you cannot pick up 100% of a salary dump. Maybe someone more learn-ed can confirm?

Jesus Christ this is going to be beautiful.

If Stephenson didn't have that heart issue pop up late AND if LDU didn't slip to us I think we would have gone for Stephenson that year.

If we manage to get him on the cheap it will be a fantastic bit of business. If I was a pies supporter I would be absolutely filthy

You should hear my Collingwood friends bagging North when I just raised the potential that he was coming to North. I could feel the tears dripping onto their phone as they were writing their anger filled messages toward me 😂

Roos not giving up on luring Stephenson

Jon Ralph
Jaidyn Stephenson’s ability to grow with North Melbourne’s exciting young group of elite players is a major pitch to the Rising Star winner as the Roos try to drag a big name out of Collingwood.

Stephenson would normally be reluctant to cross from a marquee club in premiership contention to a smaller club so far from the finals race.
But the Roos haven’t given up hope of luring Stephenson, who is owed three years of salary on over $500,000.

And Stephenson hasn’t ruled out a move to Arden Street with over a day remaining in the trade period.

Despite the Roos not having a coach and going into a rebuilding phase they are far from bereft of talent.

They are excited that the potential of Nick Larkey, Cam Zuurhar, Curtis Taylor, Tarryn Thomas, Jy Simpkin and Luke Davies-Uniacke.

Adding Stephenson to that group at a time when they are in effect buying at the bottom given his form slump would be a prudent list management decision.

He would have to be convinced the Roos could maximise his talent in a way the Pies did not this year and could make a quick bounce back rather than spend years in a massive development cycle.

Stephenson could play half forward along with the hugely talented Thomas or even move up into the wing or midfield.

The Roos are to start interviewing senior coaching candidates this week, with Pies assistant Robert Harvey one of those contenders slated to sit down with the selection committee in coming days.
