If it is 30 for Higgins then that's unders. He is worth more to us. I'd be disappointed with that unless it can be parlayed into a higher pick. A test for the brains trust imo.

Higgins for 30 is fair. I'd still rather keep a player of his skill though - it's not like he's going to soak up 850k/season for the next 5 years. But if it works out better for him, maybe it can be a win-win scenario. It wouldn't upset me if he got to win a flag (as long as Dangerflog was suspended for the GF and missed out).
We need to get Melbourne's 26 and 31 for Brown at a minimum.
We end up with:
2, 11, 26, 28, 30, 31, 70, 71, 81
Try to trade some of those picks for more picks inside the top 20.
And try to use the PSD pick 2 well.
I don’t think we could squeeze Geelong out of anything more with the Cameron trade bleeding them dry.Not thrilled with the idea of 30 for higgins.
I would have had his 'true value' in at least the early 20's

Why not tie a big pink ribbon around the trade for them while you're at it Ralph?
They have just pissed all over North. Higgins stays.
Yep, while I think GWS matching the bid for Cameron is a good thing, the flow on affect definitely damages what a potential offer might be.I don’t think we could squeeze Geelong out of anything more with the Cameron trade bleeding them dry.
It's not really.
Max Kingwas being talked about as a generational draft pick as young as 15 years old. Along with Rankine.PLAYERCARDSTARTMultiple players found. Use birthday to differentiate. eg [PLAYERCARD="23/11/1962"]Joe Smith[/PLAYERCARD]PLAYERCARDEND
McDonald is more of a late bloomer, he was considered a first round pick at the start of the year. Not the #1/#2 draft pick.
Despite his WAFL form, he hasn't done it against the best of his age group ~ as strange as that sounds.
And the few times he's played on DGB, he's been beaten.
The WAFL isn't some unbelievable standard, especially with no AFL players running around in it.
Jesse Hogan's year in the VFL was statistically far more impressive than McDonalds year in the WAFL. So it's not exactly unprecedented.PLAYERCARDSTART23Jesse Hogan

Bryce Gibbs and Adelaide springs to mindPick 30 for a 33 year old is a good deal.
When has a club paid more for someone of that age?

Was good while it lasted.
If he's tweeting confirmation, we can be assured the trade wont happen.
So it is not just about salary dumping if they are going to be chasing someone else.

There's also the fact that (for the most part) big men take time to develop and the ones that develop relatively early tend to get hyped up a fair bit. Sort of similar to the big bodied midfielder type that has developed earlier than the other kids, will dominate the state leagues, get drafted and make an immediate impact, but then never really improves any further over their career.
Since they are so used to just using size/strength etc. they never need to develop any other strings to their bow. Whilst there will be others with obvious upside that while still maturing need to learn other ways to compete, and when their bodies catch up end up being more complete players.
I think sometimes people forget that these are just kids and the vast vast majority of them are nowhere near the same person they will be in a few years time physically/mentally/intellectually etc.
I would still be trying to bleed that Pick 20 out of them with Pick Swaps to make it happen.I don’t think we could squeeze Geelong out of anything more with the Cameron trade bleeding them dry.
You'd have to consider that Hojy or alternatively 6 and 7 for pick 2. This stuff will be left for live trading as I suspect the true value of pick 2 will be governed by who Adelaide pick at 1. If they pass on McDonald, watch the rest come hard for us and pick 2.Tempt them with the 2 & 11.
