North, Demons deal for Brown helps Stephenson trade
By Michael Gleeson
North Melbourne and Melbourne are close to a deal to send Ben Brown to the Demons for an exchange of a suite of picks.
The deal, which is agreed in principal, cannot be lodged until later today after an AFL briefing.
The deal will centre on North giving up Brown and pick 28 and receive Melbourne’s pick 26 and either pick 31 or 33.
The clubs will also swap future late round picks.
North is confident the move strengthens their hand in negotiations for Collingwood’s Jaidyn Stephenson.
North sources believe they can secure Stephenson for a second round pick – possibly pick 26 from Melbourne - as they are prepared to take on all of Stephenson’s salary. The former rising star winner is contracted for almost $600,000 a year for the next three years.
Collingwood has argued they want pick 11 from North.

This is a crap deal for BB if true.
FFS, if our pick 28 is involved in this kind of a deal, we may as well bring Joyce back.

I wouldn’t be wasting any energy on Kane. He enjoys any type of attention.

Reminds me of Shane Warne's endless bleating in the media 21 years down the track about being dropped in the Windies.

Steve Waugh indicated 2 people are required for a feud and he never bought into it.

Would we accept it if they added pick 43 or 50 to that deal. On points would be around picks 18-22 in value.

**** that

Something certainly stinks at the pies and I don't think it's just the salary cap.

They shattered a potential era type side to allow Buckley his shot at glory and as it stands no glory has been captured.

At its very core I think it is this. If Malthouse stays and they keep the band together they are much more of a threat over 12-15.

There i now legal action being brought against the club for the way they handled a (or more) players during this time.

If Collingwood don't win the flag next year Buckley becomes the second longest serving non premiership winning coach ever in the history of the sport.

They have seemingly traded off future for now in their Salary cap and they are shitting on their players on the way out.

They seemingly have major issues, not that the media would ever go them but even a small amount of looking makes it clear that there is a lot not right there.

That better not be the deal for Brown.

Would rather let him go for free.

Yes, well if Brown is worth no more than Higgins or Preuss, then that is poor.

Along with he doesn't fit into our game plan even though we don't even have a coach routine.

Grain of salt, still three hours before we know for sure.

Everything about lour list management has been for a purpose, no reason for that to change with this trade.

I think there are too many recent precedents/comparatives that will help our cause. Eg I'm sure Rawlings will say he is better than higgo and we got him valued at 30 and you got 31? for preuss and you know he has a lot more to often than he....

I suspect the deal is as follows not counting the late futures-

NM: 26, 31, 33
MEL: Brown, 28

If you want to piss Cornes off call him Shane the Fireman.

Cornes' first day at an Adelaide Station the Chief introduced him in front of the crew as "Shane"
Cornes: Ah, Its Kane.
Chief: So Shane tell us what you did before you joined the Firies.
Cornes: Ah, I played football.
Chief: Hear that everyone, Shane played football.

Just to correct Kane's alternative facts, as it stands:

There are 12 players off the list:
- 10 primary list
- 2 rookie list

We have added 2 players to the primary list and it is now confirmed there will be a reduction of 2 players to the total list (disregarding Cat B rookies, as we only have 1 anyway).

So, at the moment, we need to add 8 players to the list:
- 6 primary list
- 2 rookie list
(This is assuming we go with a 38 primary / 4 rookie split).
Tweet him that shit.

So Ben Brown and 28 for 26 and 1 of 31/33.... for reals?

So basically the same value as they got for Preuss... better be a bit more in it for us.

Imagine the Go Dees camp?

Hey, we basically just traded Ben Brown for the Preuss pick and they still have Dom Tyson on their books!

Well, if we do get Stephenson for that 26, isn’t it more like:

Ben Brown & 28 for Stephenson & 31?

Doesn’t sound quite as bad.

I don’t agree with the Brown part of the trade, but just trying to stay positive.
