Haven't the club said they will concentrate on the draft for a few years then trade?

I'm happy to use any of those first 5 picks on young players, if the club thought they would be better than what we would get at the draft with those picks.

We usually say we will be active in the trade period, only to come out and say we're focussing on the draft when it becomes apparent no one worth chasing wants to play for us.

Wait I'm confused.... has it not been stated now that Atkins is a FA and not an RFA, therefore we dont receive a compo pick for him?

You still get a compo pick for a UFA, however you cannot match a contract of a UFA to force a trade.

The moment they agree to terms with another club, it's over.

Yeah whoops, I completely forgot about that part of the FA structure for some reason. Thanks

30 and Himmelburg to Brisbane for 19?

To GWS with 43 for 27?

LOL, that's absolutely correct!

When discussing Brad Crouch compo, there's a lot of words like "we're not accepting pick 19".

It wouldn't be pick 19 as this years draft has 19 picks in it and as we already hold pick 20 as the first of the second round, the compo pick would actually be adding pick 21 to our draft hand. That is we'd have pick 1, GW$ pick, pick 20 (compo), pick 21 (our first pick in the second round pushed back by the compo) etc

So it's either pick 2 which is unlikely or pick 21 in which case he stays. We do after all need quality experienced players to help bring through young talent.

My biggest worry is that we'll be such a basket case in 2021 & 2022 that any interstaters we draft will be wanting out as soon as their initial contract expires, and home state clubs will be working on them relentlessly from draft night onwards. We will be like Brisbane & GC were. If at all possible, draft locals

Has little currency, fringe player at a club that won't win a game.

Why would GW$ want him, they are overloaded with KPF

I repeat, has little currency
GWS took Riccardi from the VFL last year, may be losing Cameron. Clearly have some questions about what they're going to do with key forward roles.

Honestly, the main reason I hope we win a game or two down the stretch is so that f***wit trolls like you see it as your cue to piss off.

Say lists get reduced to 38 plus 2 rookies.

I'm in favour of big changes.

Out:

B Crouch
Crocker
Taylor
Mackay
Gallucci
Atkins
Hartigan
Knight
Wilson
Strachan
Gibbs
Davis

12 out brings us down to 32 listed players, draft 8, Keays and Butts (we can still keep him as a rookie?) are the 2 rookies.

Starting to think the club will just pay out the Davis contract, can't be a big one. They seem to have zero interest in playing him.

Gallucci any other year gets another year.

Any other year we might have found a home for Kelly, unlikely with everyone reducing list numbers so he stays.

Can we draft 5 players before our academy/FS selections? Fingers crossed.

Guessing GWS pick finishes at 7. Dreaming of band 3 compo for Atkins, assuming zero compensation for Hartigan.

We'd have picks 1, 2, 8, 20, 21.

Picks for Edwards, Newchurch and Borlase 31, 44, 50 and 61.
Can we delist contracted players. That would be ace but I’d say only OOC players can be diced.

What i find amazing is this supposed 'soft cap' of footy departments.

This has to be A grade horsechit.

For example - How can Collingwood have high profile assistants such as Sanderson, Harvey, Boyd etc Sydney have Cox, Johnson etc

We have Godden, Hart, Clarke... :drunk:

Havent even got to the Fitness Department

Can we please actually bring out the cheque book?

We should really be getting a hefty tax return carrying these losses. Probably should be getting compensated to have them.

Forgive the ignorance but has the AFL confirmed the details of the list size reduction? I mean like can contracted players be cut or how will the salary cap change if at all?
Nothing officially announced so far... or unofficially, for that matter. It's all just speculation so far.

Thanks!! Selfishly with the Crows's current list profile the perfect scenario would be the AFL doing us a solid and allowing contracted player delistings. I don't think any other club would stand to benefit as much in doing a massive salary dump relaitve to the future quality of on field performances lost.

But its the AFL, they more than likely will say no comp picks and a 2 round draft this year since teams have to reduce numbers anyway (arguing that is is better to keep adults gainfully employed and make undrafted 17 year olds their parents problem for one more year).

Do we try move Lynch on at years end? Pick 30-35 probably there abouts but is his contract to big to find any takers?
Despite what nuffys like Vader say, a contesting club like Collingwood would have a lot of interest in Tom Lynch. They desperately need some more forwards, and Lynch could be very helpful.
