Because you give away solid role players and get nothing in return it’s not a deliberate rebuild ?

so a rebuild isn’t dependant on replacing experienced players and hitting the draft ?

I did agree it is a rebuild but I disagree it was planned early (certainly not well)
When rebuilding you would identify 2-3 senior players to trade to get up draft orders to pick elite talent. We haven’t done that. We have traded picks well which has compensated but our player trading hasn’t been great
Yes we moved heaps of players on - and I agree you need to keep a core group. Hindsight helps but if we were fully convinced of the rebuild we would have moved Brad last year

Is their another chance to get players during the year? Ideally there would be another draft half way through the year for players from this years draft year upwards. Gives the clubs a chance to view the players who didn’t play for half a year and the players a chance to push their case.

The only fair way of doing it is based on the last full season so we get pick 1 👍

Yep there's 4 chances through the year apparently

We should push for the first round at least to be based on this year finishing positions. Not only did we not get access to the unianimous pick 1, we also had most players unavailable to play due to COVID. AFL also took any bargaining power we may have had over a Bulldogs by changing bidding rules

Worth a discussion with head office

Heard on first ADEL Hub stint, players did not enjoy hub life ......probably didn't help that a proportion of players did not come back in good condition for the R2 match

You’re delusional and all on your own other than 1970 who is living 2 years in the past

it was a planned restructure of the list /rebuild

average age and average games played round 1 next year will show the youngest or second youngest team in comp

even if Dmac plays ( and no , I don’t think Dmac should be on the list )

blah blah I’ll take apart the stupidity of your argument later

now stop shirking, who are these “every decent judges “ you talked about before? Who!?!

The Rebuild:

2018 - best draft hand ever
2019 - highest pick ever
2020 - best draft hand and highest pick ever
2021 - highest pick ever

That's four years folks.

The end of next year will be interesting.

A LOT of contracts coming up.

I could see six senior list and a rookie spot opening up without too much fuss, and that's before any strategic trading or free agency loss.

The end of 2021 is a worry, far too many on that list that we probably should let go. That will be our third off season where we have been cleaning up mistakes of the past. As I have said before I don't think we went anywhere near hard enough in this off season.

Mackay will be one .....

GC must be struggling to work their list around with all the pre list players so AFL create a rule for them to move some contracted players onto there rookie list so they can fit the extra one or two in.

Watch them now fit Lake in - no way this rule hasn’t been bought in to assist one or two clubs

why? We’ve moved on 10 players this year. Why would moving on 8 next year be a big deal?

No he won't

It's a status thing. He's earned a spot on the senior list through tenure, even if it has no bearing on anything other than opening up a spot for a draft slider, we won't do it. It would be a decent step forward if we did. No downside, small potential for upside, meaningless optics ignored. But can we ignore meaningless optics.

From the list there are 7 delistings/retirements which I agree with.

Butts to the senior list at this stage, so 6 picks in the strong draft.

Done!

Maybe - though I think rebuilding teams SHOULD be moving on 8+ players each year. It's just an issue if we don't have the draft assets to rebuild with talented youth, or we DON'T do the significant rebuild.
