Just wanted to pass on some information to you guys. Forget discussing trades for any of the GWS mids. I’ve been told by an extremely reliable source at Collingwood that you guys literally have a handshake agreement with Collingwood for a trade for Trealor. They’re desperate to clear up salary cap space to target a tall forward. Also, you guys are also going hard at De Goey. And have made an offer he’s weighing up which is a hell of a lot more than what Collingwood have offered. North and Essendon have also made offers but he wants to play finals.

Will keep you updated when I hear anything else.

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd said on Footy Classified on Wednesday night that Taranto was the ideal player for the Saints and he would be their prime target in this trade period.

The taranto thing only grew legs straight after the persistent heeney rumours surfaced.

His manager has not denied the rumour unlike Taranto's.

Oh I hope you’re right. That’s delicious. Trealor/Taranto and De Goey. Wait if we get De Goey he’s worth two first round picks. That’s gonna make it impossible to get Trealor and or Taranto.

His disposal let’s him down, but he’s got great speed. Would be awesome with steele

His foot skills aren't in the same realm as Hanners at his best.

He can accumulate very well but he's never been overly damaging with the ball because of his poor skills.

My list of untouchables is:
Steele, Marshall, King, Coffield, Gresham, Wilkie and Clark.
Hill, Butler, Jones and Howard aren’t going anywhere.
Battle, Membrey and Billings the ones with the most currency on our list. Personally don’t want to lose any of them but we have to expect that we will.
Carlisle might net us something decent but wouldn’t count on it. Long or Paton would beef up negotiations.

No one is/should be untouchable. The argument is not about who you would and wouldn't trade, it is about price. Posters here saying no way trade Gresham...but there is a price at which you would. Is it Gresham and pick 14 for Taranto? Or is it Dusty and Danger for Gresham? It is just price. At some price everyone is going to agree it should be done.

And none of this is real. Gresham, as far as I know is not on the table anywhere else but in the BF St Kilda trade thread. It is just part of a discussion about theoretically how would we get a trade like Taranto done.

I've never been that excited by him as a player. Always felt people only rate him as highly as they do because he plays for Collingwood. Great accumulator but not that damaging overall.

Looking at the Collingwood midfield, he doesnt come close to Pendlebery or Sidebottom in terms of quality for me. He might get the ball more than those two, but I would prefer 20 disposals from either Pendles or Sidebottom than 30 from Treloar.

Treloar doesn’t really make sense. He’s a gun and improves our midfield, but he’ll be 28 next season, has hamstring problems and would cost at least our first rounder.

Collingwood are renowned for being useless with soft tissue injuries and partially ruining careers.
Treloar has often come back too early. As long as our medicos do a good check on him I will back them in.
We have managed to get Hanners and Freeman back onto the park in the past, and Treloar has had a lot less issues than them.

Would still prefer a younger player but may just be about continuing to improve until we land a serious big fish again.

I have no obsession with getting rid of him at all. Would rather keep him. But in the hypothetical, how could we make Taranto happen - he is a player with good trade currency that GWS have expressed interest in and could make it happen. Personally I'd rather say Ross and pick 14 but I don't think it would get done at that.

He’s cleaned it up a bit, he isn’t Brad Hill but I think he’s better by foot than Jones.

I think he'd fit perfectly into our midfield and game style. We don't need super polished, we do need mids who keep fronting up to contests, winning the footy, getting it forward. Treloar averages 30 touches, 13 contested, 5-6 clearances, and kicks double digit goals in normal years. Clear upgrade in the Seb Ross role. He's a no-brainer if he's available.
