So you're allowed to make sweeping statements about what "100% of people who watch football know", but no one else is? Got it.
Fine then I'll show you why Taranto is better.
Taranto has had a bad year this year (still better than Heeney's for what it's worth), but he has publicly stated GWS didn't adapt well to the changing comp and it made it hard for him to perform so let's look at 2019 instead. You know, the year GWS made a GF in which Taranto was clearly their bog. So 2019 in a struggling midfield Heeney is still in his 5th year playing predominantly as a forward who can pinch hit averaging 20 touches and just over a goal a game, 2/3 of his disposals are still handballs despite his position. Taranto in his 2nd year breaks into the most talented midfield in the league and in his 3rd year becomes arguably its best player, 27 disposals a game, .5 goals a game, 7.5 tackles a game, 6 clearances a game, more contested ball by a league, more kicks and all at a higher DE than Heeney who was getting a comfy ride as a 3rd tall forward. Heeney is talented no question but he's not comparable to Taranto at all. Taranto is a league above his entire age bracket and having one bad injury riddled season doesn't change that.

Only had to read one line and yes you don't follow the game. I don't care what dribble you spout out, Heeney is a gun footballer while Taranto has struggled this year in a stacked midfield.

Taranto had a shoulder op after round 1 and was expected to miss the season. He played after no training for months.

While I don’t disagree that Taranto has some serious runs on the board, claiming that 2/3 of Heeney’s disposals are handballs is blatantly factually incorrect. He has never had more handballs than kicks in a season let alone 2/3rds.

I personally think Heeney’s best is more damaging and he’s more of a game winner clutch type but he’s a little inconsistent which is to be expected playing almost full time forward, whereas Taranto is ultra consistent in the midfield, where Heeney still hasn’t had an extended run in yet. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s entirely Heeney’s lack of midfield ability or the fact that Buddy never gets on the park these days and Heeney was playing pretty much a De Goey type role as an all round I50 target.

Not as if this is a debate that means much. Heeney is not going anywhere and Taranto probably isn’t (at least yet) either.
Ah yes. Indeed I have misread the stats my bad, slightly more kicks than handballs 2019.

Struggled this year after having to undergo shoulder surgery. Big surprise there!

Won the giants best and fairest in a grand final year and was their best player on grand final day...

With a stacked midfield.

Heeney is 2 years older and never finished top 3 in a best and fairest.

Wonder what it would take to get Payne. Hasn't played much and wasn't a high draft pick so wouldn't be too high. Is contracted though and KPDs don't grow on trees so Brisbane wouldn't be giving him up easily.
Wouldnt want to do any more than a future 2nd. But even that is stretching his value.

He has a 3rd round Academy pick (so there was a discount) three years ago and only played 4 games.

I would be absolutely staggered if the club went for De Goey. There is clearly a huge emphasis on culture/character and he does not fit the mould I would have thought.

Yeah this.

We were happy to get rid of acres and Bruce. Snakes just about gone. They're choir boys next to de Goey.

And still 1) played more games than Heeney and, 2) had more impact in his games than Heeney.
It's ok though Gringo mere plebs like us aren't fit to comment on football with the likes of old mate around so we should just sit back and enjoy the pure pure wisdom he spouts rather than attempt to comprehend it.

I'm not going to get into a fight about it but it's easy to not rate opposition players because you only see them in small doses but generally if players are winning awards inside clubs and externally they are the better players. Some guys really play badly against us but are guns against others. I have watched a fair few Melbourne games and Petracca and Oliver are guns but don't look it when they play us. On purely our games they are average.

If we pick up payne we need to ditch 2 of clav joyce and austin imo. We don't have the list space now and we definitely won't have it after list shrinkage to carry 5.5 kpds. I still don't get why people are fixating on players not in the midfield though. It's clearly our stand out weakness but sure let's bring in some more tall players and small forwards that'll help.

You can improve both at the same time...

But 1 is clearly in much more need of help than the other. If Payne costs anything more than a packet of twisties it's currency we could be putting towards another elite mid. So really it is 1 or the other when we have very limited draft resources and very limited players we'd be happy to lose that are worth anything of value.

Austin is NOT a kpd.
Marsh is probably not either, suited to a 3rd tall roll.
Roberton certainly isn't.

I'd assume that we'd only be getting Payne if Carlisle is leaving.

LOL just saw the post saying he'd signed.

There’s plenty of ways to get assets in, you Need to constantly improve your whole list. They’ll be after mids too.

We didn’t get rid of them due to off field stuff though.

I don’t we’re as risk adverse as we were in the early days if the Finnis era (which had to happen as we were absolute toxic to sponsors).

Hanners isn’t a choir boy, Hilly has had his moments & we stuck by Jake when he was being proper naughty.

The biggest issue with DeGoey is the court case won’t be heard until after trade week. That is too big a risk to take IMO.

Howard, Carlisle, Joyce, Clavarino, Austin are all KPDS. Regardless of the fact that Austin is incapable of manning up and Clavarino only plays 1 good game a year in the final week.

Whether it’s true or not I reckon at least 2 of those 3 will be ditched at the end of the year anyway

I have a Collingwood mate who says the same thing, he hates him so your another who doesn't watch any games.
Ah you have a mate.

That seals it then.
I have a mate that says he is no good. Who to believe now?
I have a mate that says he's sometimes good, and sometimes bad. where to go now
Forget Treloar.

I am judging all of you for having friends that support / watch Collingwood.

That any of you listen to them about anything (other then where to score drugs) is even worse.
