You have been a lot better recently with your opinion on things but your stance on this is a howler. We have been reamed by these contracts but i get it, you will stick fat by the club regardless. There's a good boy, tow the line no matter what! :)

Hilarious. Hill and Hanners are busts you reckon said nothing about contacts. Backing up at a million miles an hour.

Comedy Gold. My god how embarrassing for you.

:D :D :D :D :D

Lol reemed with these contracts

Still plenty in the warchest and the money hanners got had to be spent
Hill we paid a fair bit for but big whoops.

Don't take it seriously mate, he must be taking the piss, only explanation.

Steele and King are busts as well :D:D:D:D

I agree with this.
He hasn't been as dynamic as we wanted and more than a few games this year he wasn't looking too good , but just the experience he brings in training and in the game is something we have been needing for a long time , also you can't comment about his work ethic because he usually has the greatest distanced traveled every game we have played.
But he is in the team for overlap and he does that and when he gets the ball he is a great user and I'm just glad we have added a class player to our young squad.

Thankgod we got him and we are not having to fill the team with Wellers, Wrights , Minchingtons , Rices , Longers and all those other spuds we where gifting games or guys who where just not fit to play like Armitage , Newnes.

He's a better player than he was 3 years ago.

He was alway a gun, lead the league in running bounces at GC and was one of their best players.

We most probably have 2 guys on our list getting 800k a year and when you look at a team like GWS with guys like Coniglio , Whitfield , Kelly , Cameron , Greene on 800k or more we are traveling mighty fine considering we are playing finals and they didn't get there.
And on Cameron and Coniglio's performances this year you would be pretty pissed off how badly they played.
And don't forget the other super trades like Mitch McGovern on 750k a year or Lever on 750k a year or paying a Daniher 800k a year and hardly playing a game for 3 years.
We are going mighty fine.

Playing finals papers over everything. I'm the trade value Stasi and even I'm chill about giving up too much when we are winning.

Last time I checked we were playing in a Semi Final with Hanners & Hill in the side

From 14th to ??

I think maybe you should Veer Left

Both made up some serious ground last week. If we'd lost to GWS there probably would have been some gnashing of teeth about their cost. Winning is a cover for everything. Hanners made it back in time to carry us in last weeks game. He looks much better value than if he'd played 5 games a year on $800,000 pa.

Looking at the Carlton trade for Jack Martin his first 2 years he is on a million a year and no way is he worth that much over 4 let alone 2 and now they are getting Zac Williams on what they are saying 900k a year and now Saad on some stupid figure.
I just hope Cripps is getting his worth because he is worth more than all of them.
Charlie Curnow is out due to injury and I would seriously offer him a good contract because if he is fit and ready to go he will be a star and Carlton would of blown all the salary cap on average halfback flankers.

I agree with what you are saying fully however his output compared to his contract length and coin are far apart. I want class players in the team as much as the next bloke. An example is Marsh being considered by some to come in this week is not a win for us at the selection table.

So we go all out on players like H&H to push the weak links out of the starting 22 but at what cost?

Maybe i am overblowing it anyway as we are/were not in a salary cap squeeze. Maybe my frustration does't lie with the club but at these guys asking for big contracts then not holding up their end. I'd rather we pay Steele, Marshall and Ryder 850k on principle, the guys who get it done.

I look forward to the future when our list is healthier and we are not as desperate to go all out to land a big name player.

How glorious would it be for Carlscum to not make the finals next year

There is a side benefit in the over the top contracts. Once you start looking like a contender again (due to paying too much) you become more attractive and don't have to over pay as much and have more options of players wanting in. It's a bit hard to be too critical of it when it is working right now.

I get your view , but we needed to bring in some experience and it cost us , but we are heading in the right direction.

Weird way to celebrate winning our first final in a decade.
We have to use the cap space. The finals experience these guys bring are priceless. Look at how they went in the game. The mentoring they can pass onto guys like Clark, Bytel and Coffield is hugely beneficial.
Not to mention the off field benefits. Getting trades and respected big names like these down to the club attracts others.
No hill, likely no paddy.
Shane Edwards was asked in an interview what its like to be training with Gary ablett and his response went something along the lines "yeah Its an amazing experience getting to train with Gary and hanners"
What would you have us do instead? Pay dmac some more?

Surely they couldn't fu** it up. Well they are Carlton.
Carlton do have the base to a very good side having McKay , Curnow as key forwards , Weitering in the backline they have a good spine and with Doherty , Zac Williams , Saad with Cripps , Jack Martin and Walsh they do have a good team if they can get it together.
But they will find it hard to beat us next year with the added growth and development in our side.

You can change the narrative all you like Joffaboy but some of the things you take a hard stance on are a million miles off the mark.
Hilarious, it's your dumb stance I am laughing at. Calling Hill and Hanners bust is the funniest, most ignorant I have read on here for many a long time. Almost rivals a bloke on SS back in the day saying Jack Steven is the worst player ever to play for St.Kilda [emoji23][emoji23]
It's is ludicrously foolish and ignorant, and the consensus from most on here would suggest just that.

Credibility => window.

And a CPR manikin in the coaches box

Disagree mate ..think Carlton are overpaying like the Saints did 2004 - 2011 they are paying small select
group of players on a reduced salary cap. ( 60 % of their cap will be 8 players )

Mcgovern is on a stack too reported to be $700 , 000.

They don’t still have quality 1st ruck and still have large number of players at end of careers .

Funny, i think all that applies to yourself. I find it seriously amusing how you double down no matter what.

I remember butting heads with you earlier in the year regarding Geary then the funny thing was, you started paying out on him yourself not long after. Where's your spine? You flip flop with the wind.

Anyway not to worry tho, just go back to fishing for likes like you normally do, hell i'll start by giving you one. Should make your week :)

Pittonet looks the goods to me and de Koning a handy forward ruck for the future.
