Possibly only 1 year left in Ryder and at his age is a 50/50 chance to either rested or injured. We may not have the options of Brown, Daniher, 2MP or Miochek next off season when we need someone. The overlap isn’t ideal but neither is rolling the dice for a Ryder replacement when he retires or drops below AFL standard.
Daniher would need to be played so one of those would need to be left out and currently Paddy is nearly our best player.
There will always be options for the forward line. Besides Daniher is a lemon. Paddy is way more consistent.

I haven't been sold on Carlton but they should be a good chance for top eight next year. It's a pretty solid looking team. Whether or not Williams can be the midfielder they want him to be will be important.

B Marchbank Jones Newman
HB Docherty Weitering Saad
C SPS Cripps Williamson
HF Martin McKay Gibbons
F Betts Curnow TDK
R Pittonet Williams Walsh
I Setterfield Murphy Curnow Newnes/Fisher
Going to be interesting, a lot hangs on the return of Charlie Curnow.

If I had to bet, I’d have them missing.

My nephew plays at Cobden with Zach Merretts brother Tosh. He has said that Zach wants out upset at the fact Bellchambers was not given a farewell game and the direction of the club.

Wants to play finals and is keen to get to the Saints.

Make of that what you will.

Yes, the jungle drums are beating will be a late selection like Butler and Jones after we get Caldwell and Heeney sorted.

BTW still no denial from either manager on these persistent rumours.

Make of that what you will.

Delusional Essendon supporters please never change :D :D :D

They want pick 7 for Saad. This is, as Bruce would say, is delicious.

Dodoro will be the usual kent, they will get pick 7, say they won the trade period, waste in on a Parish or Neckbeard and continue their journey as the most inept spuddish over rated failures in the League.

Oh this will be good. What is the definition of insanity again?

Not just Saad either. Fox Footy reporting that Joe Daniher is set to announce Brisbane as his preferred club.

Dodoro can, as usual, completely clog up the entire trade period, especially if Essendon match the Brisbane offer for Daniher. He outdid himself last year with the Daniher trade to Sydney, it was the deal that caused a backlog of incomplete trades because of the picks involved.

Remember the last hour of last year’s trade period. So many deals were frenetically hurried at the end because picks flowing from the Daniher deal, which then impacted on the Papley deal (which also fell over), cascaded to affecting about 10 other trades. We were scrambling to get the Bruce, Jones and Butler trades done near the deadline.

Had it not been for the goodwill of the Tigers, who were hanging around the entrance of the trade room in the final 30 minutes (waiting for us to complete the Jones trade) then we might have missed out on trading-in Butler. Richmond were prepared to accept a very late pick (later than what was fair value) to get the deal done because they wanted to ensure that one of their Premiership players found a new home.

This mess was caused by Dodoro’s intransigence. The previous year there was also the Dylan Shiel trade from GWS that went to the last 15 minutes. The bloke is a serial pest during the trade period.
