If we beat Richmond this week , no one would be dropped.Herald-Sun reported today that Carlisle is keen to stay at the club. Doesn’t want to leave.
Looks like the ball is in the club’s court.
It was also reported in the Herald-Sun that neither Carlisle or the club has ruled out the possibility that Carlisle flies to Adelaide and plays in the Preliminary Final (if we make it).
Hately requesting a trade out of GWS.. Caldwell becoming even harder to get now

Carlisle is a must keep unless we get some as good and with our draft hand we don't have to much to deal with.
GWS cap is stretched and they have kids like Ash , Riccardi , Hately , Caldwell , Hill , O'Halloran , Tom Green who would be on the basic draft wage of around 150k and if they want to sign them they will need to more than double it if they are wanting them to stay knowing they are all high draft picks.i would have thought the opposite
I agree, I think it shows that the younger players still arent getting game time at the Giants and are a disgruntled lot. Also, I dont think its a question of money, as long as the deals are similar, i think its about being home, playing for the club you love and time in the midfield! Come home Jye!!!!!i would have thought the opposite
They were.
They told him in his first exit meeting he won't be playing back and would have to fight for a spot forward.
They then got him back for a 2nd meeting and told him they would look at a trade for the right price which made it pretty clear to Doug's he was being pushed out the door which is why he flew to Melbourne to meet clubs.
Agreed, that trade was what? 4 years ago, we got Butler for a song, but if Richmond were on the downward slide not where they are, we don't get him for that price.
Things change, GWS were sorting through their riches, most they got rid of were good trades for them, with Steele probably the best let go. They seem to be on the downward slide and want to keep a young quality player.
I reckon Caldwell will cost more than a first, and supporters will whinge, like they did for two thirds of the season about Hill, but look what he brings in a big game.
He definately will cost more than Steele and I am willing to pay as the recruiters have runs on the board.
Our first realistically is going to be close to pick 20.You'd be crazy to pay more than our first for a player who is still only average. He's not a lot more advanced than Bytel at the moment.

Caldwell's stats, a bit more developed than Bytel.
As I said supporters will whinge, like they have about Hanners, Paddy, Hill etc, but when he turns out like Steele and we have him, Steele, Bytel, Jones, Gres and Clark running through the guts for the forseeable future, we will be thankful.
Also if Caldwell nominates us, the deal gets done.
It could not be jye, could be someone else, could also have bad info, maybe something's changed who knows.
Mg has more of a track record but anything could hapoen, both could have correct or incorrect information.

I want to get him, just don't think we need to go nuts offering overs for him.
If Caldwell nominates us the deal will get done and if it costs our first with something coming back hopefully it’s a bargain.I want to get him, just don't think we need to go nuts offering overs for him.
But what is overs? Bulldogs paid firsts and a million a year for Boyd, who looked a bust, until he buggered Ward's knee in the PF and kicked thee in the GF.
Did the Dogs pay overs for a bloke who was instrumental in winning a flag?
Most people said we paid overs for Hill. First, a bunch of later picks and Acres, we got reamed we were told. Two thirds of a season people calling him a bust and soft and we paid overs. How has that looked in the latter parts of the season. On the weekend he was great in a final and with Hanners (another who has been called a bust and we were wrong to pick up) showed what a big game player with finals experience can do when it counts.
Not saying Caldwell is Dusty Martin and I would be pretty bewildered if we did an O'Meara type deal, but don't be surprised that we give up our first, and a swap of picks in GWS favour.
The kid has been in the system only two years, a high dp in the "superdraft" of 2018, a year behind Hunter and Coff in development. If he noms us, we get the deal done.
What did we pay for J.Steele and what would you pay for him now ?You'd be crazy to pay more than our first for a player who is still only average. He's not a lot more advanced than Bytel at the moment.
Carlisle will be in the same situation as Bruce was last year. Aside from best wishes, I've no doubt the last conversation Lethlean would have had before Carlisle left would have been around the years and $'s the club will be offering him.Herald-Sun reported today that Carlisle is keen to stay at the club. Doesn’t want to leave.

Debatable when we would have Long to come back in who has been playing all season. If we beat Richmond this week , no one would be dropped.

Could always ask Gil for advice for a Au pair for a couple of weeks. On his wage he could afford half a dozen. If Carlisle is available he must be selected.
If he played in the Preliminary Final would he then be available for the Grand Final in Brisbane? Two weeks away from his partner, new born baby and two small children is a big ask.
It’s all hypothetical of course. So many bridges to cross.

I thought we'd approached him a fair way out.
That doesn't sound like a list manager that was unhappy to see him goWhile Howard was willing to stick it out as a second or third tall forward behind Charlie Dixon, a discussion one week after the exit meeting saw list manager Jason Cripps raise the prospect of a trade.
"It was 'if the deal was right we would consider it'. Any player that gets told that would go and do that, which Dougs has done."
He wouldn't be close to a walk up start rd1 next year based off his performances so far. With the team numbers being cut this year I think for us any trades need to be for our best 22, Would Caldwell be a walk up start with Gresh healthy and more time into Bytel?
Agian thoughts on Archie Perkins for the draft?
