You don’t go by the name of Arthur on Twitter do you?

Same bizarre ranting on Hill & Hanners.

Same obsession with what they earn.

Same lack of footy knowledge that makes you unable (or most likely unwilling) to actually see what they both bring to the club.

Jesus you guys don't like a lack of conformity to group thinking do you. I can see both sides but I am really so surprised by how far we have come that I find it hard to be salty about anything the club has done lately. I'm fickle enough to forgive anything while we are winning.

Why is it a lack of knowledge, it looks like an opinion.

If you want to talk about Carltank, please take it elsewhere, it’s making me feel ill, this is all about St Kilda Football Club.

Anyone who thinks Hill is a bust should give the game away, whilst Hanners is just important off field as he is on. He was almost back to his best on the weekend.

I doubt he literally thinks he's a bust, I think that's just a hyperbolic way of saying he hasn't lived up to high expectations. He'll be better with longer quarters but he's on big bucks and with that comes big expectations. He's handed it okay so far lifting right when we needed him to.

Hannebery came over at a time where we had a load of cap space and nobody to blow it on. His leadership off field and standards knowing what it takes to get to the top would be worth a significant portion of that (although I still think Lethers and Hanners dad are drinking some seriously old scotch from some of the proceeds 😂).

Hannebery never shuts up in training, I’ve watched couple of sessions and even from the sides he is driving standards.

There were definitely some question marks about his ability to get his body right but also I think just getting someone like him raised our profile.

Hill, well to shake a player like that loose you have to sometimes pay overs. He is prob worth his contract at his best and has been better as the year has wore on. After finishes of 16th and then 14th and not finals since 2011 we couldn’t realistically have relied on our premiership chances as a carrot (I’m not underestimating the vision that Ratten, Lethlean and co have sold though).

Agree 100% that we need to pay our up and coming players what they are worth but we are fortunate that so much development has come from within and Clark, Coffield, Paton, King etc...are ahead of expectations - this has bridged the quality gap massively along with last years recruits. If our young guns keep on the current trajectory and we can add 1-2 more top quality players we should be right up there competing for a flag.

We should be in a position now where we don’t need to pay overs to get players to come to a bottom club any more.

Great coach who the players love, respectable administration and a young talented team who just won a final.

I doubt the club just found a broken down player to take their cash. We would have been hoping he was another Burgoyne.

I think it's really easy to equate all our good form or improvement to one of two factors. In reality it part that we have played high drafted kids into form (partly due to injury last year). Clark, Coff, King, Battle and Paton.

We got a few absolute gun accidental bonus finds like Wilkie and Marshall who came off the rookies.

Picked some good mature players that exceeded expectation Butler, Ryder and Jones.

Replaced some GOPs which gave spots to kids and new players with something to prove etc.

Guys like Gresham and Billings have been able to play more meaningful roles. Steele has gone from good to elite.

Injured guys like Carlisle became available.

All the parts seem to have done their bit in making us a much more driven and organised unit under a coach with new energy and direction which would give them a lift as well. It's hard to take one part out and know what it would do to the whole if you didn't make that move. What ever it is we don't want to step backwards.

Has there been an inquiry into why we gave Daniel McKenzie such a big contract?
Not sure why we dont demand a press conference from our GM every day while we have a team of people look into this matter

I suspect Hannerby’s impact will be kind of similar to a one Sammy Hamill.

We potentially don’t see the best of them regularly just cause their body doesn’t hold up sadly but their leadership will be second to none for such a young group.

Whilst Dan probably won’t deliver as we had expected on the field if he can be that effective leader and was the first established player to come to the saints which opened the doors for others I wouldn’t think he’s a bust.

The reported salary we were paying Hannebery didn’t match his recent output or what we had to give up in a trade, which is why I felt we were looking at what he could bring the club as a whole, not just on the field. Not saying we were throwing money at a banged up player but we had a lot of cap space, no other suitors and nobody on our list at that time worthy of a pay hike.

Not criticising the club at all by the way, everything they have done since Lethlean came in has been a step forward - I trust in what they are doing. Like you said, winning helps. I was all for paying what was needed at the time too as we needed a circuit breaker.

Agree with you on all the points RE the different factors that led to the team being where we are now. If Carlisle and others don’t go down injured last year we maybe don’t see Wilkie at all.

Don’t know, but we ended up with Clark

....... and many bonars.

If Hunter is as good as he is, imagine how much better he could have been with and extra vowel on his name. Probably worth another 5 possessions a week.

That's pretty much what I just said. He was rushed back and we rolled the dice which worked. If we'd lost another game at some point he would have been held back and been criticised for his wage to games played. It's a fine line between stupidity and genius sometimes. Hill was rightly critiqued for his underperforming throughout the season. His last couple of weeks have been very good though. Even if we'd lost to the Dogs I think there would have been critics coming for both. If we get annihilated and they break down or play poorly the sights will take aim again next week. Footy is pretty unfair sometimes.

You really are only as good as your recent form, people forget the bad when you do good and they forget the good when you do badly.
Much like Billings copping it of late despite really good early season form.

You’re right with the fine line between genius and stupidity. Luckily for us 2020 ended really well and lots of boxes ticked for Gags, Lethers, Ratts and co.

The bloke posts a list with his name on it and still gets it wrong. Reaching Stevens level frustration now that our own supporters just can't seem to get his name right.
What really gets my goat is media commentators ( I‘m looking at you Jono Brown and BT ) and others, who constantly say Saint Kilda.
It’s Saints or St. Kilda - it’s not rocket science!

You have been a lot better recently with your opinion on things but your stance on this is a howler. We have been reamed by these contracts but i get it, you will stick fat by the club regardless. There's a good boy, tow the line no matter what! :)
Agree with you that we are over paying both players.. but what you need to understand is that players want to play with Daniel Hannebery’s & Bradley Hills.
there good players that bring experience to a fairly young list. 2 seasons ago we were in the wilderness below average team & anything but a destination club. Yes we over paid especially for Hanners as Sydney knew his body was cooked but look where it’s brought us now..If a Taranto or alike does want to leave, we are now in the mix because of these guys. Good players didn’t even want to have meetings with us a few years back.

Somethings going to happen with the CHB spot. I just don't know who. Seems very strange.

What do you think about Freo’s KPD spots? Surely someone gets shaken loose.

Hamling, Pearce, Logue, Cox. Is Duman a KPD type too or a 3rd tall?
Then Ryan who did great punching above his weight but they’d ideally want as the 3rd/4th tall.

If Pearce could get fit I’d love to get him but he’s in their leadership group I think?

Cox just re-signed. Logue was a WA boy and top 10 pick wasn’t he? Hamling has only been there a few years. Duman has shown promise this year I thought.

Tobe Watson coming through as a third tall type played a few games and looked decent.

Seems like there’s reasons for all to stay but if fit obviously can’t all play in the same team. All are contracted too I believe. Duman and Watson could be depth for the time being as are a bit under developed.

Even then, you can’t play Cox, Logue, Pearce and Hamling in the same backline.

Read that there were rumours about Pearce not being happy about Freo’s handling of his injuries so makes me think maybe he’s one who we could get loose.

Another slightly younger option would be Jackson Payne from Brissy.
