He's not worth pick 2 but he's worth more than pick 20 so tell me why they don't match and force a trade? No way the saints don't trade for him. You don't commit to a player and then let him down. No one would ever want to go to the saints after that. The saints would have known the whole way that if we don't offer enough money, there is a chance the crows will match so I'm sure they are talking through their options.

Very true, a club leading a player along and then being unable to conclude a trade would be terrible. Imagine if someone for instance did that to Tom Papley from Sydney and Dan Butler (formerly Richmond), you would imagine that other clubs, players and player managers would ridicule them and not want to deal with them again. Thank god, thats never happened.

Oh yeah, that west, I was thinking too close to home. I forgot about Brander. Is he actually any good? I haven't seen enough to rate him. I think he was playing wing like a sh*t Josh Battle the only game I noticed him in. he was a pretty high pick from memory.

One thing is for sure he ain’t a winger .

Look we may not get them let’s see what happens

Barrels or God Save [PLAYERCARD]Max King[/PLAYERCARD] - one of them really rate Brander.
Forget which one.
Best ask them. I get Fergus Watts vibes off him.

I reckon Aaron Hall will light up the VFL next year if it's running… he'll be 30 in a few weeks so it would be a waste of a list spot for us and he's probably on 3-400K.

Nope.

I reckon North would pay part of his wage. They aren't going to have enough players to pay minimum cap. If you could take a $600,000 Dunstan off the books and pay $200,000 for a depth player you are ahead already.

Abbott played one game this year.

that’s the role McKernan is taking.

he won’t play more then 5 if he was to come.
Yeah I understand his role stav but I’m still not keen.

As a break in case of emergency player I wouldn’t choose mckernan, seemed to improve at Essendon but he played more football. He seems to need to get his confidence up can he play that game here game there role.

He had a good run at GC except for injury and Dew was into youth. His best is absolutely top shelf. He literally played games that were better than Gary Ablett when he was at GC. If he got some consistency he could have been a pretty outstanding player. I watched a few GC games where he was ridiculous, looked like a superstar. 40 disposals and scoring goals off a HBF kind of gun. I have been a fan ever since, he hasn't been consistent though so understand why people don't rate him but like Savage I reckon better coaches could have made more of their weapons.

He had a month where he was in the conversation for the best player in the comp. And thats pretty much his all he's done.

I look at him and think - Atleast he can contribute around the contest and take a strong pack Mark.

he is a terrible ruckman, but the idea would be Ryder/Marshall will be primary Ruck and McKernan will sit forward and chop out.

in a very limited role. I am A-OK with this.

So if hypothetically we traded pick 15 for anything it means we would have to use fr pick next year.

Yes but Geelong have had that requirement waived at the AFL's discretion so it is not exactly concrete.

I would suggest if you're trading your first round picks for blokes under 23 the AFL would have a hard time arguing that you're "trading the future away".

I thought it was two in four years but might be wrong.
You are correct

"Under the AFL's future trading rules clubs must use two first-round picks at the NAB AFL Draft over a rolling four-year period to ensure they aren't able to swap selections and trade themselves into long-term list strife."

He'd be handy if we had both Marshall and Ryder unavailable. If we lost just one of them, I think we'd probably utilise a Battle or another undersized player and bring in another runner, given we're likely to have some handy emergencies next season.

For the last spot on the list, McKernan is decent value.

That's my thought process as well but i would prefer a ruck over a KPF.

I would think a 200cm young KPD would be the teams main target as of now.

Or trade something worth a first round pick to use.

Remember when Longer and Hickey both got injured. We'd ruck Bruce and guys like Gilbert. Those were the days. We really need another back up ruck. I hope Crossley or a partially developed ruck can be found.

Like him ....still think Clavarino has future too

Got to be wary of those highlights packages as just about every play he was a foot taller than the bloke playing against him
