If we can somehow get a small defender on him and isolate him, he will get 50 goals a year with ease

Membrey does his best work inside 50. He finds the ball up the ground with his work rate but his ball use hurts our ball movement every time. He isn’t a bad kick so I am not sure why he feels the need to bomb it long every time he gets it.

Someone like Miochek playing his current role would be beneficial so Membrey can stay closer to goal where he is more dangerous.

Only 22 spots on the ground.

Our bottom 5 is Gears, Long, Sinclair, Kent, Lonie.

Kent and Lonie play different positions so they’re out.
Long I flat out reckon is a better and more impactful player as a defender.

Gears has so much heart Fmd. I wanted him out but we needed his leadership this year and it helps that he turns into Plugger randomly couple times this year.

Sinclair is a tidy player. I rate his chip kicks more than Savages bombs but not fussed either way.

We could’ve tried him somewhere else. HFF, he could’ve done a similar job to Kent, I just think he has more flexibility then he has been allowed to show at the Saints. I don’t think we’ll ever know not with us anyway. Shame..

What I'm getting at, is that we don't know what we have yet.. his talent goes a long way to suggesting he is closer to those guys than your average player. He is a definite generational

I saw him play full back on tom boyd in the u/18s in their draft year. Absolutely outplayed boyd. Held him to one goal....which was a generous free kick

So much of me says no to going after De Goey... and then you consider his talent, what we’re lacking and the potential upside & its hard to argue against it.
The suggestion is he wants to be a midfielder, and if that’s the case I’d back the people at the club to get the best out of him.

He was unreal vs Richmond but was shocking for most of the year and iirc was dropped/injured for like 3 weeks.

Well Roos went missing against Kelly.

But he limited Bont twice, Dusty once and did reasonable against Dusty the second time.

Membrey's work up the ground in the last month was very good. Yeah it was pretty awesome seeing him tuck the ball under his arm and burst through a few opponents. He did it last week too.

Didn't Kent come to us because he wanted to play midfield? A lot of talk about positions, but you get put where you get put.

Surprised to see Bell delisted. I remember reading that he was showing some very good signs despite his lanky frame. No surprises really regarding the rest...although I would've kept Mayo. Alabaskis (is that right?) Seems an odd one to keep. Can he even kick a footy?

Bell is highly rated.
Alabakis is a 211cm blank canvas with all the physical attributes. If we can get the best teachers to teach him the craft he could be anything.
( and unless they change the rules completely he's cat 2 and gets another year without being on the main list ).
Is Paddy coaching material? We are seeing the advantages of having a hands on coach in Roughead, and Paddy could do the same.

Good point and I like that as a method! Bell I have heard a little about but Alabakis is not on my radar, I think these guys have really suffered this year from not having a consistent 2nds to have a run around in, but also may have benified from it not being VFL, and only playing other AFL listed players.

Getting rid of Bell and Abbott means if we don't bring in another ruckman, we've got one (very raw) ruckman left for Sandy - that's assuming there will be a vfl 2021season I suppose.

In any case, you'd think that we would never let that happen, our up and coming midfielders would be struggling to touch the ball playing at Sandy. Gotta have a ruckman already assured of joining surely.

I think he is too small for a KPD so dont love him there - very good player though

Even when you just look at Battle he doesn’t look undersized at all. The man is a beast.
