What a sad situation for Stuv. I hope he can make peace with whatever his issues are and live out a fulfilling life away from the AFL.

Geelong have been disgraceful in the whole situation - another reason to hate those cap-dodging bastards.

But that ship has sailed, I don't want him back at the club.

This, I will always remember Steven fondly.

At the end of the day, he had issues that held him back from being a part of something special. Hope he finds a way out of his troubles.

Part of me wants him back. He could be the difference in a big final.

Then I remember how the deal went down, all the sh*t he has going on off the field etc and I think it's better to keep him away from this group.

A part of me wants to say "Hey Stuv, we'll give you 100K to get in shape, play with Lorne, come in for our main session once per week, but be available if we get injuries ... no pressure", mainly because he's been a loyal servant through some crappy years for us, I think he's still got some gas in the tank, and I don't think Geelong dropping him like a soggy chip will do him much good on the mental health front.

But it's the off-field stuff ... we wouldn't be able to sweep a stabbing under the rug, for example, which would be the concern.

I think the vitriol towards Geelong in this case is misplaced. They were correct in giving us a trash dp as it looks like Jack went downhill fast. Not in their plans going forward. Can't see what's wrong with that.

With the two picks we got for Bruce and Stuv, the teams recruiting them were correct and we in hindsight have gone Ok out of it, something like Jones and Byrnes.

Let's be honest i think both clubs knew the issues that Stuv had hence us accepting such a low pick. Cats took a gamble to see if they could scrape 1 or 2 years out of him at a half decent level, but it didn't work out for both.

Will always be remembered as a Saint. And a fantastic one at that!

I agree in this case it is misplaced but frankly I think any vitriol the cats receive is justified. And maybe the deal to get him there was fair enough but how they have treated him just a year later is disappointing to say the least.

Honestly I think the whole situation is just horrible for Steven. Hope he is okay.

Love the talk that Adel are trying to shop Crouch around for other suiters. 2 issues:

1) Nobody else is willing to come close to the contract we have offered
2) even if they found a club, Brad has to agree to go there and he's committed to us.

He has emotionally checked out of Adel. He ain't going back.

Exactly, and people whinge about Hill not playing so well this year - I really think we need to write 2020 off in terms of player output. Hell, it kills me but even Bruce will be better when he's back under the roof like he's used to.

We also heard the "think of the players welfare" when asked to take a low pick and help get him across with minimal friction.

Now the welfare of this guy isn't an issue… pay him out and dump him from his job thus ending a 15 year career, can't be ideal for someone with serious mental demons.

Geelong have stockpiled mature talent and done nothing with it for near on a decade.. the coach that led them to those 3 flags is trying to avoid jail on drugs charges. I'd much rather be us than them right now. We are closer to our next flag than they are.

Geelong should have to pay him $150,000 next year and jack could get given a role suited to him in a transition role to life after footy or something. I don’t see him as an advocate for a cause or wanting spotlight but if he is cut loose it wouldnt be good for his welfare

Player welfare was part of the narrative back then but that is out the window now because it doesn't suit their list management strategy this year.
